Chapter 0729
Frank’s men didn’t know how it happened, but within minutes, they were overpowered by a group of rugged- looking men speaking Hesperian with a distinct accent.
“These were the guys guarding the old man?” one of the ten intruders asked.
“Apparently.”
“I thought they’d be more of a challenge…”
“Same here. Let’s get the old man and stay sharp. Hey! Marcus wants him alive.”
“Yeah, yeah. The guy loves to hunt his prey. Been a while since I’ve heard of that Bartz”
“I’ve never worked for him, but from what I hear, Mr. Sanchez holds him in high regard.
“Sir! We’ve got the man!”
“Good. Let’s move. I’ll inform Bartz on the way.
The leader was startled when he saw who they were taking. It was an elderly, frail man–mute, blind, and utterly broken. He never imagined this was the man who, in his prime, had ordered the massacre of Marcus’s entire family.
“Where do we take him, sir?”
“According to the instructions, here.” He pointed to a secluded location on a map.
Meanwhile, Marcus, still accompanied by Maximus, dropped him off at the entrance to Palmer Group. Without revealing where he was going, Marcus left, but not before saying something that sent chills down Maximus’s spine.
“You’d better convince him. If you don’t, the man will regret everything he’s done.”
Maximus entered Palmer Group’s building, took the elevator, and, just as he suspected, no one stopped him. As he reached the main offices, employees greeted him respectfully, oblivious to the chaos brewing behind the
scenes.
When he arrived at the presidential office–a place that had been like a second home for years–Greta greeted him warmly. But he didn’t even give her time to respond. He stormed in without knocking.
“Maximus! My dear!” Frank said, a cigar between his teeth.
Maximus didn’t hesitate. He punched Frank square in the face.
“Tell me where the hell my son, my nephew, and the other boy are! What are you playing at? Are you trying to start something you’re not ready for?”
“You’re a fool, Maximus!”
“Yeah, I know. Tell me something new.
“I told you, Maximus. You had the chance to grow this place, but you left me no choice…”
“So it’s true, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“You’ve got my son.”
Chapter 0729
“Of course! It was the only way. Your damn grandmother keeps ruining everything as usual.”
“Don’t blame her. You Levetts are like leeches, clinging to the Palmers. You want the shares? Take them! I’m the only one who can sign the succession papers. Bring me the lids–safe and unharmed–and I’ll sign over what you want. I know you’re too meticulous to pass up this opportunity.”
“Well, Maximus, it seems you finally understand what I wanted. Fine! I’ll bring the kids here. But I want you alone. just like now. No Marcus, no brother, just you, Meet me here at 8:00 p.m. Bring the ownership documents. And remember, I set the rules. As soon as you sign, I’ll hand over the kids.”
Maximus barely held back his disgust. Frank repulsed him, but for now, he had to play it safe. Frank had the children, and any misstep could be disastrous.
