Marcus, after gearing up, left the warehouse. Maximus had grabbed two guns. He wasn’t sure about Marcus’s plan, but one thing was clear–this man was nothing like the one he thought he knew. 

Marcus had always been rational, cold, and level–headed. But now, he was acting impulsively, and that terrified Maximus. His biggest concern was Lucius. As for Lucius’s mother? She could go to hell for all he cared. But her son, being with her, would be dragged into the same fate. 

Without Marcus noticing, Maximus quickly sent a text message. [Get out of there immediately.] 

When Lucius received the message, he didn’t understand what it meant. But as he stepped out of the hospital room, he noticed something strange. The floor where he and his mother were staying felt eerily empty. Sure, it wasn’t the busiest place, but this wasn’t normal. 

The message clicked. Lucius tried to move his mother. Alexa was asleep, and the plan was to carry her out. But as he reached for the door, a group of men dressed in black caught him off guard. 

“Where do you think you’re going, Mr. Palmer, with your mother?” said the one who appeared to be the leader. 

“Who are you? I’m calling security!” Lucius said, stepping back 

“I suggest you put the lady back in bed. We don’t intend to harm her, but if you don’t cooperate, we’ll have to use force.” 

A chill ran down Lucius’s spine as he realized there were six men in black inside the room. At least two of them were pointing guns at him. 

“What do you want?” he asked. 

“We have orders to take Alexia Levett, no matter what‘ 

“Why? She hasn’t done anything! Who sent you? Talk to my father!” 

Alexia, hearing the commotion, began to stir. She couldn’t move much, but she managed to speak. 

“Lucius, who are these men? What’s going on?” 

“Mrs. Levett,” said the leader, “I’m afraid you’ll have to come with us.” 

“Who’s looking for me?” Alexia asked. 

“I can’t say. But I have orders to take you, alive or dead. Don’t make me do the latter,” the man replied coldly. 

“Calm down, son,” Alexia said. “Let’s just do what these gentlemen say. My boy, can he stay, or are you taking him too?” 

“My orders are to take only you. 

“Lucius, my son, I have to go with them-” 

“No, Mom! You don’t have to go with them!” 

“Please, son… Don’t make this harder than it already is.” 

“Mom!” 

One of the men stepped forward and struck Lucius on the head, knocking him unconscious. Alexia’s heart sank for a moment, but trying to stay calm, she said:
