Chapter 0743
After a long journey–hours that felt like days and days that seemed eternal–Alden boarded a flight with the children to the UAE. They were already expected there by Serenity and the others.
This was where Alden, or Theodore, stayed whenever they visited the country. The security measures in place were incredible. Alden had spared no effort in ensuring every precaution was taken–he couldn’t risk his family’s safety again.
After several hours in the air, Alden and the children arrived in the enigmatic country. Yet, the events of the past hours lingered heavily on his mind.
When Alden had asked Theodore to train him like his father once had, Theodore warned him it wouldn’t be easy. There would be trials that would strip away his peace of mind. It was all about experience and composure to endure whatever came his way. Now, Alden had to summon every curice of self–control to quell his emotions.
Meanwhile, Serenity couldn’t relax. Paul hadn’t received any calls, and her anxiety was growing unbearable. She felt restless, worried for the children and the man who was the future father of her child. No force seemed capable of protecting them.
She trusted Alden, but the silence was killing her. Emma tried to calm her, reminding her of the importance of staying serene for her baby’s sake.
the kids.”
“Emma, I just can’t stop worrying. Alden hasn’t called, and I’m scared for him and Serenity said, her voice trembling with fear.
“Sweetheart, if he thought he couldn’t handle it, believe me, he wouldn’t have gone. You haven’t known him long, I know, but you’ve fallen for him. Still, you don’t really know his past. Remember, as you once told me, he rescued you without hesitation, no matter the cost or who stood in his way. Trust that this time will be no different.”
“Oh, Emma, I want to believe that so badly…”
“You’ll see. He’ll come back, I promise.”
They were talking when the sharp click of the door unlockling from the outside startled them both. Emma was so shaken, she dropped the tea she’d been carrying to Laura.
Behind the door, three small figures and a man’s silhouette appeared. Serenity’s eyes filled with tears as she rushed toward them. Dropping to her knees, she embraced all three children at once.
“My darlings, how are you? What did they do to you? Are you okay? Are you hurt?” she asked, frantically checking them over.
“They’re fine,” Alden said as calmly as possible. “Only Maurice got hit a little, but the doctor already checked him. He’s a brave kid–it’s just a bruise on his cheek, and it’ll fade soon.
“Alden! You had us all on edge! You promised Paul you’d call him.”
“I know, I know! I’m sorry, but I wanted to get here as quickly as possible. I didn’t want to spend another second apart. I know you’re safe here, but there’s nothing like me being here to protect you myself.”
“Alden, are you okay?” Emma asked, her voice full of concern.
“Yes, Emma. I’m fine. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“See, Serenity? He can take care of himself. Alden, she was worried sick, especially because of the baby. Did you let everyone know you’re okay?”
Chapter 0743
“Yes, Emma. I told Maximus and Marcus. As for my father, from what Theodore told me, he’s in a clinic dealing with his memories. For now, it’s best not to disturb him. The kids are safe, and everything’s fine.
This was a scare, but nothing like this will happen again.”
Laura, who had just put Adele to sleep, heard the commotion and came out to the living room. Paul, who was just as worried as Serenity, rushed out of his room when he heard Alden’s voice and hugged him tightly.
“Alden! I thought you’d call. I couldn’t relax…”
“I’m here now, buddy. It’s all over. Look, the kids are safe, and we’re all together.”
Paul looked at his younger brother and noticed the small broise near his mouth.
