Chapter 0745 

The Rosaria hospital was a massive complex, a collection of three U–shaped bulldings. Dr. Hill had been 

extremely cautious, but no matter how much she tried to avoid it, if fate had its way, Valerie and Peter were bound to run into each other eventually. 

Peter did his best to stay in his room, especially when his mind felt scattered. He was fully aware that he might run into Mary, so he avoided the gardens and common areas altogether. 

But one day, as if destiny had decided to intervene, Peter was walking back from a session with Dr. Hill, lost in thought as he made his way down the long corridor leading to his building. He was so preoccupied that he didn’t notice his surroundings until a familiar voice jolted him out of his thoughts. 

“Peter?” Valerie’s voice was full of surprise, and a jolt of electricity seemed to course through her. 

“Ma… Mary…” Peter replied, his voice trembling. 

He couldn’t believe she was standing in front of him. He had let his guard down and walked through the wrong corridor. His body tensed up. He hadn’t expected to see her, and he had no idea how to react. 

“Peter, what are you doing here?” Valerie asked, her curiosity piqued. 

It was clear he wasn’t just visiting. The uniform he wore, the same as hers, made that obvious. 

“Mary… I don’t think it’s good for you and me to be here together.” 

“Peter… I do want to talk to you, please.” 

Peter felt a weight in his chest. That day’s session with Dr. Hill had been tough and left him feeling unsettled. The topic had been Celeste–what he felt for her and what she meant in his life. The last thing he expected was to come face–to–face with Mary. 

“Mary… Today isn’t a good day.”

“Peter, for you, it’s never a good day. The last time we saw each other, you turned my life upside down. I think I deserve a chance,” Valerie said, her voice firm with determination. 

Peter pushed aside the emotions swirling inside him and finally relented. 

“Fine… Let’s go for a walk. I’ve always tried to stay in the building to avoid seeing you, but I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.” 

Valerie noticed a hint of irritation in Peter’s tone, but she chose to ignore it. The two walked out to the gardens. For a few minutes, they strolled in silence until Peter finally spoke. 

“See that tree? Let’s sit under it.” 

Valerie nodded and followed him. Once there, they settled under the shade of the ash tree. Peter lay back on the grass with a casual air, while Valerie sat next to him more stiffly, 

“Peter, why are you here?” 

“I’m not well… mentally.” 

“What do you mean by that?” 

Peter kept his eyes closed, resting his hands behind his head like a makeshift pillow, 

“Mary, not everything from my surgery went well. The doctor who rebuilt my brain says that remembering has brought me more harm than good.”

“Why?” 

“Because in my efforts to recover my memories, I’m overworking my brain. My brain isn’t whole; there are fragments missing. The parts that are gone hold my memories. I’m alive, but there are many things that will never be the same.” 

Hearing this, Valerie felt a sharp pang in her chest and hands. He looked so normal, so calm. It was as if the Peter she had once known was still there. 

“What did you want to talk to me about?” 

The question startled Valerie. 

“Well, I want to talk about… everything” 

“Everything? Keep in mind, I don’t have all my memories. We can’t talk about everything,” Peter said with a trace of irony. 

“Peter!” Valerie snapped, irritated. 

“I just want you to understand that there are things in my life now that I don’t remember.” 

Peter remained lying down with his eyes closed when he suddenly felt a comforting warmth beside him. Valerie had decided to lie down next to him..
