Chapter 0748
Marcus was already quite upset upon learning that Peter was in the same hospital as Valerie. His mind wasn’t thinking clearly; jealousy had taken over again. He was genuinely angry, and all that filled his mind was one idea: this must be Peter’s doing.
Weeks ago, Peter was supposed to have left the country, and Dr. Hill had asked that he be allowed to finish his treatment. Marcus had believed in that, even going so far as to make arrangements to stay close to Valerie. Then came the issue with the children, and now, now he was facing this harsh reality.
When he arrived at the hospital, he didn’t ask for permission. He simply barged in and began searching for his wife. His men scattered throughout the hospital, causing quite a commotion. Marcus was reaching his limit when he had to witness the scene before him..
It was as if fate had guided him to where the woman he loved was. He arrived just in time to see her kiss what appeared to be her old love.
“Valerie! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Marcus shouted, striding forward.
“Marcus…!” Valerie said, surprised, pulling away from Peter.
Peter, seeing the situation, helped Valerie to her feet. He wanted to speak, but Marcus raised a hand, pointing a finger at him.
“Marcus, Valerie and I…” Peter started, trying to mediate.
Peter clearly knew his friend well. He knew that as an enemy, Marcus was the worst. He didn’t measure the consequences; he acted without asking questions.
“Valerie, this is the last straw! I can’t… I can’t take it anymore! Is this what you’ve decided? Fine! I’ll just say one thing… The kids stay with me!” Marcus shouted, turning away.
Marcus was using every bit of willpower he had, trying to stop himself from doing or saying something he would regret for the rest of his life. He was armed, and he knew that it would only take a spark to make him explode.
“Marcus! No! Please, no! I know what you saw… Please, don’t take my kids away from me. Don’t, please… It’s not what you think!” Valerie said, anguish in her voice as she cursed herself inwardly.
Valerie understood perfectly that she had made the worst mistake by kissing Peter. In the moment, she hadn’t thought about the consequences; she just got carried away by the situation. It had been a damn mistake, and now she was once again in trouble for not thinking things through.
“Marcus! She loves you! Don’t do something stupid!” Peter shouted, worried as he saw Marcus’s reaction and Valerie’s tears.
“Peter, shut the hell up! Don’t you think I realized? You planned to be alone here with my wife!” Marcus yelled when he saw Peter trying to defend Valerie.
“Marcus, please, I’m just asking you to talk to her. I was the one who caused all of this. Do whatever you want with me, but please, listen to her,” Peter pleaded.
“Marcus, you know me, and I think you know me better than she does, so you know very well that if you keep tightening the rope, it’s going to snap. You better shut up, Marcus said, trying to sound reasonable to his former friend.
“I’m sorry, Valerie… I can’t do this anymate
