Chapter 0775
Marcus held Valerie tightly against his chest, as if afraid to let go. He had missed her her warmth, her scent, everything about her. Taking care of the children alone hadn’t been easy, but more than anything, he had been tormented by the guilt of what he had done.
He knew they had both made mistakes that had torn their family apart. But all he wanted now was to end this nightmare and return to Hesperia, to rebuild what they had lost.
He imagined their family together again–Serenity studying at university, John starting primary school, and Albert and Caroline crawling around the house. He even imagined having to build extra rooms to fit them all.
This was the future he wanted.
A real home. A real family.
“Valerie… You have no idea how much I missed this. You don’t know how much I’ve suffered without you. I know you’ll probably never forgive me for the way I hurt you. I lost my mind–I let my jealousy control me. I convinced myself I was losing you.
For a moment, I saw my future as a man raising our kids alone. I hated Peter because I thought he was the only person who could take you away from me.”
Valerie lifted her hand to his face, her fingers soft against his cheek.
“Never. Marcus Bartz, listen to me–never think that would ever happen. Peter was an important part of my past, but that’s all he is–the past.
“You are my present. You are my future. And I don’t see any future without you in it.”
At her words, Marcus’s grip on her tightened. Without thinking, he lifted her into his arms and kissed her deeply, pouring into that kiss all the longing and desire he had been holding back for weeks.
She was his wife. She was here. In his arms.
With her beside him, he could face anything.
Valerie melted into his embrace. She had missed this–missed him. The scent of her husband, the feeling of his touch against her skin.
She could feel his desperation, his need to have her, to feel her again.
The kiss that started as tender soon turned into something deeper, hungrier–a silent plea for reconnection.
She understood exactly what he wanted–what they both wanted.
With slow hands, she began unbuttoning his shirt, her fingers brushing over the familiar skin she had yearned for. Marcus lifted her legs around his waist, carrying her toward the bedroom. Their lips only parted when they needed to breathe.
For Marcus, it felt like a dream.
He knew they had so much to work through–trust to rebuild, wounds to heal, and conversations that couldn’t be avoided.
But right now, all that mattered was this moment–the feeling of her body against his, the way her legs wrapped around him, as if she needed him just as much as he needed her.
“I love you, Valerie.” Marcus whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I just hope that one day, you can forgive

me for hurting you. I swear, I will spend every single day proving to you that I deserve you. I love you, I love our children, and I love the life we’ve built. I don’t want us to be apart ever again. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
As they entered the bedroom, Marcus pulled off the dusty sheet covering their old bed.
Then, he kissed her again.
Harder. Deeper. As if trying to erase the time they had spent apart.
When he pulled away, Valerie’s lips were red and swollen, her eyes dark with desire.
Slowly, they stripped away the last barriers between them, removing every layer of clothing, until there was nothing left between them.
Marcus’s eyes lingered on the scar across Valerie’s stomach–the mark left from bringing their twins into the world.
Without thinking, he leaned down and kissed it.
He knew what that scar meant.
It was a symbol of her strength, of everything they had built together.
But seeing it again…
He felt guilty.
Valerie immediately noticed the change in his expression.
Gently, she pulled him back to her, meeting his gaze.
“You and I, Marcus Bartz, have a lot of work to do.”
“When we go back to Hesperia, we’re going to start therapy–together and individually.
“We love each other, and that love is enough to heal every wound.
“We have to do this–not just for you and me, but for our children.”
She kissed him, sealing her words with the only promise that mattered.
For the first time in weeks, Marcus felt at peace.
He traced the shape of her lips, then moved lower, trailing kisses along her jaw, her neck, her collarbone.
When he reached her chest, he hesitated, admiring how her body had changed after motherhood–fuller, softer, more beautiful than ever.
She was everything.
Moving lower, he kissed her stomach, then let his hands explore the curves of her hips, his lips trailing down until
A shudder ran through Valerie’s body.
She had always loved the way Marcus touched her, but tonight, it was different.
