Chapter 0092
Back in Valeria, Matthew messaged Maximus after seeing the speculation spreading on social media. When Maximus read the news, he immediately realized that Mary had likely heard about it too. Returning to Lunavalle was no longer an option.
“Matthew, draft a divorce settlement and send it to my grandmother’s house. Start the process immediately, and if we can avoid seeing each other face–to–face, all the better,” Maximus ordered curtly.
“Sir…” Matthew hesitated.
“What part of that didn’t you understand? The marriage between Mary and me needs to be dissolved before the company’s anniversary.
“Understood, sir,” Matthew replied, resigned.
Matthew began drafting the agreement, including a substantial financial settlement and several properties to be awarded to Mary. Once finished, he sent the document to Maximus for review.
Meanwhile, Maximus sat in Alexia’s apartment, enduring her nonstop chatter about the baby since the pregnancy was confirmed.
“Alexia, can we ease up on the baby talk for a moment?” he said, exasperated.
“Maximus, what’s wrong? It’s like you’re not happy about the news. Is that it?”
“No, of course I’m happy! But you need to understand the consequences of what’s happening. I’ve already asked Matthew to draft the divorce settlement and send it to my grandmother. And let me tell you, the fact that Catherine saw today’s news–do you really think it hasn’t already enraged her?”
“Oh, Maximus! I’m sorry. I’m just so excited that I didn’t think about what you just said. What do you think will happen?”
“I don’t know yet. But one thing is certain–Grandma won’t take this lightly.”
In Lunavalle, Catherine was livid. The late hour didn’t stop her from summoning Leopold to help draft an urgent memorandum.
[Dear Members of Palmer Group,
I address you as the head and majority shareholder of Palmer Group. In light of recent events, I am forced to announce the removal of the current president, Maximus Palmer, from his position.
An emergency meeting will soon be convened to appoint a successor. Please note that the candidates under consideration include:
Leonard Palmer: Former head of the Palmer Group and my son.
Peter Palmer: My grandson and the youngest son of Leonard Palmer.

Marcus Bartz: Sole surviving heir of the second–larges shareholder in Palmer Group.
I sincerely apologize for the moral fallings of my grandson, Maximus Palmer.
With regret,
Catherine Palmer]

The memorandum was sent at midnight on Saturday. Catherine’s heart was heavy with conflicting emotions. She never thought she’d have to rely on the second–largest shareholder’s family, nor that she would be forced to strip her grandson of both his position and his surname.
She was fully aware of the results from Alexia and Maximus’s tests: Alexia was carrying her great- grandchild. However, no matter what, Catherine would ensure Alexia never secured a place in the family.
Catherine planned an emergency trip to Valeria that very night. She informed Leonardo of the situation, compelling him to return, and contacted Marcus Bartz–whose whereabouts had been unknown for the past five years. It was time to return his family’s shares to their rightful owner.
The memorandum sparked immediate reactions. At 2:00 a.m., Catherine’s phone rang–the call she had anticipated.
“Maximus, my boy! What a surprise to hear from you at this hour. If this is about the memorandum, there’s no need to discuss it now. We’ll talk in a few hours, and I’ll hang up now,” she said coldly, ending the call without waiting for a reply.
In Galea, Peter read the memorandum and was struck by the name Marcus Bartz.
“Grandma, how do you know Marcus Bartz?” he asked, intrigued.
“Ah, my boy! He’s the grandson of a dear friend, Peter Bartz, who tragically passed away. At his death, Peter’s shares came under my guardianship for safekeeping. But now it’s time to return them to their rightful owner.”
“Peter Bartz?” Peter echoed, confused.
“Yes. In fact, you were named after him in honor of our friendship. Now, tell me how do you know Marcus?”
“Well, it’s a long story.”
“The Bartz family isn’t just anyone, Peter. I must know this story.”
