At the Bartz house, every woman who knew Serenity had arrived. A full team was already in place, ready to bring Marcus Bartz’s daughter’s wishes to life—something Valerie had anticipated. She knew that once Serenity accepted, Marcus would go completely overboard. He’d probably even try to bring in Vera Wang herself to design the dress.
"Marcus, my love, try to calm down. Everything will be fine today," Valerie said, hugging him from behind as they watched their daughter arrive with a group of women.
"I know, but I should have brought Vera! When Serenity was little, she used to say that when she got married, she wanted a dress like the one that doll had—the one designed by her," Marcus said, visibly nervous.
"Sweetheart, the wedding is in a week. And remember, Serenity is pregnant—her hormones are all over the place. Let’s just let things flow naturally, okay? Besides, we already won a small victory—she agreed to wear my dress."
"Yeah, but I just hope the person we hired makes the dream dress," Marcus said, turning to look at Valerie with love and anxiety.
"Darling, everything will be fine. And look at this place—it’s full of women ready to help. Even Camille and the girls are here for the wedding. By the way, do you know where Frederick is? Ever since he supposedly went to Hesperia, I haven’t heard a word from him."
"Ask Camille. She probably has more details," Marcus said with a knowing smile.
"Nooo! Don’t tell me… She and… Nooo! No, no, I can’t even picture it. Them? Together?" Valerie gasped in shock.
"Valerie, you’re so oblivious! Of course! Didn’t you notice Camille and Frederick have been making eyes at each other?" Marcus said, hugging her playfully as they walked toward the bedroom door.
"No! I never noticed that…" Valerie admitted, feeling completely clueless.
"Love… They’ve been wanting something for years, but neither of them gave in—until this year. With everything that’s happened, they had to work together. And, well… you can imagine the rest," Marcus said, summarizing the situation.
"So, did Camille go back to Hesperia for the girls… or for Frederick?" Valerie asked, still surprised.
"I think for both. But with Frederick already there, handling things for our return, it worked out perfectly for her," Marcus said proudly.
"I can’t believe this… I’ve been so distracted I didn’t see it coming," Valerie said, still in disbelief.
"I know! They haven’t made it official, but yeah, they’ve been secretly seeing each other for months. So don’t go running straight to Camille to ask her about it," Marcus warned, noticing the intent in his wife’s eyes.
"Oh! Good thing you said that—I was going to ask her directly," Valerie admitted honestly.
"No, sweetheart, let them tell us when we’re back in Hesperia," Marcus said as he led his wife to the salon, where everything was set up for an afternoon of girl talk and baby chatter.
When Serenity entered the salon with Diana, Emma, Laura, Celeste, Aria, Danielle, and Ellie, she was surprised to find Aurora Rennard and Regina Fernandez waiting there. She had interacted with them very little—especially Aurora, whom she only knew from stories.
