Chapter 0126
He had just received the gift when Sieg’s voice rang. “Candice, you’re so considerate. As expected of Aether’s
ex–best secretary,”
He emphasized the word “ex“, as if to remind Candice of something.
Candice gave him a lazy glance and said, “Looking at how worried you are about Aether, there are probably people out there that would believe me if I said that you’re Aether’s best secretary.”
Sieg choked. He had just wanted to say something when he heard Jackson say. “Are we barbecuing tonight?”
Marc knew Jackson was trying to stop things from getting worse, and so he said, “Yeah, the weather’s nice
lately, so we’re having a barbecue tonight and having some fun.”
Since the topic had been changed, Sieg couldn’t just change it back again. He clicked his tongue and pulled open his collars before sitting on the sofa to the side.
Meanwhile, Candice would chat with Jackson and everyone once in a while.
Until a car stopped in front of the gate. Marc said with a smile, “Alex is finally here.”
Candice blinked. It was Marc’s birthday… She knew Alex would be coming.
Sonia came with Alex. She had already changed her outfit. It was not the same one she wore in the morning.
Candice glanced at her and stopped. She then grabbed a glass of juice and drank before hearing Sieg ask
Alex, “Aren’t you supposed to be busy, and you couldn’t join us?”
Alex said, “I came over after I was done.”
Marc walked over and said, “Since you made time to come over, here’s a drink for you.”
“Are you hungry?” Candice raised her head when she heard Jackson’s gentle voice. She saw him asking with
a smile, “You’ve been staring at this cake for a while now.”
Only then did Candice realize she was still standing next to the long table. And because she spaced out, it looked like she was staring at the butter cake in front of her.
Jackson raised his eyebrow and said, “Just take it if you want.”
He had just said that when he heard Marc calling out to them. “Jackson, Candice, the grill is ready.”
They had prepared three grills, but Candice wasn’t really that interested in barbecuing. She walked around
before finding an empty swing and sat down.
Hanley had added her into their studio’s WhatsApp and she would receive messages every once in a while.
Since Candice had little to do, she read their chat.
Suddenly, there was a shadow cast over her. Candice raised her head and saw Alex’s expressionless face.
Candice gulped and asked, “What is it?”

Alex’s cedar scent got closer as he got nearer to her. His eyes stared right at her.
Candice frowned, wanting to say something. Then, she saw Alex extend his hand and grab a jacket from behind her.
Alex let out a chuckle and asked with his cold voice, “What are you dodging?”
Candice knew that what she did just now could make her look like she was thinking too much,
