Candice’s words were quite harsh, Instantly causing Sonia’s expression to falter. 

She dropped the pretense in her tone. “Candice, you shouldn’t say things like that, especially since you’re leaving soon.” 

Candice looked at her with a cold expression. Although she had been aware of Sonia’s ulterior motives from the start, she had chosen to turn a blind eye. 

But now, she lowered her gaze slightly. 

However, after just a few seconds, she lifted her eyes again, staring at Sonia coldly and sharply. “Ms. Summers, it seems you’ve misunderstood something. Leaving was my choice, not a termination forced upon 

me.” 

Sonia realized she had genuinely upset Candice. She faced the sharp gaze but internally wanted to shrink away. However, with so many people in the meeting room, she held onto her discomfort and said, “Anyway, it’s still the same.” 

Candice looked at her in silence for a moment, then lowered her eyes. 

Perhaps she had momentarily lost her mind to even consider arguing with Sonia. 

“Let’s end the meeting here. If there are any questions, come directly to my office.” She didn’t intend to waste more time with Sonia and left the meeting room with her belongings. 

Following closely behind, Kayla had a serious expression. Candice knew she had something to say and calmly prompted, “Just say what you want directly.” 

“Are you really resigning?” Kayla asked hesitantly. 

Candice nodded. “I’ll be leaving next month.” 

“Why?” Kayla furrowed her eyebrows tightly. 

But Candice suddenly paused. It seemed that everyone who knew she was leaying would ask her the reason 

in disbelief. 

Her eyelashes quivered slightly before she flatly said, “I found a new job and plan to switch.” 

Kayla clearly didn’t believe it and wanted to say more. 

However, Candice had already handed her a contract. “Check this, then pass it on to HR.” 

Candice spent the whole morning calmly busy in her office until she received a message from Tamia just 

before noon. 

She was to prepare for an interview at HR in the afternoon. 

It was an arrangement Alex had given Candice earlier to recruit a new batch of interns.

Tamia greeted her, “Come on, this afternoon will be tough. We might not be done in less than three hours.” 

Candice nodded. As she was about to take her seat, she saw the meeting room door open again, and Alex walked in expressionlessly. 

She paused and glanced at him. 

Tamia had already stood up and asked, “Why did you come down, Mr. Elysian?” 

Before Alex could speak, Sonia entered from the door. 

She had a smile on her face, took small steps, and stopped next to Alex. She whispered, “I received a call.” 

Candice understood immediately. This was probably another instance of Alex bringing Sonia to “learn“. 

She averted her gaze and said nothing. 

Originally, the interviews were supposed to be conducted by Candice, Tamia, and another supervisor. 

Candice sat on the side nearest to the door. 

However, now with Alex and Sonia entering one after the other, they sandwiched her in the middle. 

Candice was close to Alex, and any slight movement would bring her arm close to his. 

Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, she whispered, “It’s not appropriate for me to sit in the middle. Since Mr. Elysian is here, you should sit here.” 

But as soon as she finished speaking, she heard his indifferent voice, “Not necessary, I just came to have a 

look.” 

“Candice,” Sitting beside Alex, Sonia also turned to look at Candice. Her pink lip gloss made her appear cute, carrying an air of naive innocence. “You said this morning that my abilities are insufficient, so Mr. Elysian brought me here to learn about your work. Don’t worry, Mr. Elysian won’t blame you.” 

Whether it was about sitting in the wrong position or scolding Sonia in the morning, the exact meaning behind 

her words was hard to determine. 

Candice pursed her lips, showing little expression. 

It was Tamia who knew how to handle the situation. She pulled Candice and smiled, “The interview is about to 

start. You should display the aura of Aether Corporation’s Chief Secretary and interview these young 

candidates properly.” 

Since Candice had been transferred out of the CEO’s office, the confirmation of the new Chief Secretary for 

Aether Corporation had not been made. 

Hearing this, Sonia couldn’t help but glance at Candice again. 

She had discussed this with Alex before, but he hadn’t given a clear response. Hence, internally within Aether Corporation, it was still presumed that Candice was Alex’s Chief Secretary.

Her grip on the files tightened slightly as she spoke calmly, “So, what are you implying?” 

Alex’s expression remained unchanged, his dark pupils unreadable. “Since you look down on Sonia’s abilities so much, why not bring her to the position you’re supposed to hand over?” 

Candice’s breath hitched. “I can’t mentor her.” 

“That’s your problem.” 

After a slow pause, she spoke in a deep tone, “I don’t want to mentor her.” 

“Fine.” Alex scoffed with little emotion, his gaze fixed on Candice. He tapped on the table, his voice heavy. somewhat casual, “If you don’t want to mentor her, find someone else to take over your position.” 

Candice remained silent. She didn’t believe Alex was unaware of the relationship between her and Sonia. 

However, he stood up, towering over her. 

In an extremely detached voice, he said, “This is your final job at Aether Corporation. Once you’ve completed
