Chapter 0163
“Candice, I just wanted to give everyone a little treat for breakfast,” Sonia sald humbly “one seems to be working hard lately, I heard Winnie say that she’s so busy that she did
time for breakfast, that’s why I bought some. I’m sorry, Candice. I won’t do it again in the future.”
Winnie was an experienced staff member in the Secretary’s Office and she immediately spoke up. “Sonia, you’re so kind. Ms. Renault, just let her off. See how enthusiastic she is.
Candice
looked at the coffee on her desk. It was clear that Winnie was on Sonia’s side.
She lowered her gaze and said nothing else.
Sonia gave a cup of coffee to every colleague and even Queenie had one.
Kayla knew that she had a social obligation to be generous to Sonia in return when she accepted. the cup of coffee, so she did not pick on Sonia’s shortcomings.
Candice had experienced various tactics in the workplace for many years, and was well aware of them. It was challenging to smile at Sonia, however.
Moreover, with her impending resignation, such things did not seem worth her attention.
Now, she only hoped to quickly secure cooperation with Blue Artifact.
As Zane had not responded to messages for a long time, Candice took a set of documents and
approached Sonia.
Her voice was indifferent when she spoke. “Take these documents to Mr. Elysian. It’s about Blue
Artifact’s market trends, and there’s a proposal attached. If there are no issues, have him sign it.”
Candice was clear–headed about it now. Since Alex wanted to favor Sonia, there was no need for
her to personally take care of everything. And since Sonia loved to perform so much, she might as
well let her.
As expected, Sonia did not refuse. She took the documents and went upstairs.
Candice continued with her work, but within five minutes, Sonia returned. She softly called
Candice. “Candice, Mr. Elysian wants to see you.”
“What does he want with me?” Candice asked.
“It seems to be about the Blue Artifact.” Sonia said, her lips pursed as if she were in a good mood.
Candice followed Sonia upstairs.

Alex was looking at the proposal Candice had prepared. After a moment of thought, Candice
spoke. “Is there an issue with the proposal?”
Alex flipped through the folder, then put it down. He looked up at her indifferently.
“If there’s any problem, I can make adjustments,” Candice said.
After a while, Alex, still expressionless, pointed at the proposal and said coldly. “You and Sonia will handle the collaboration procedure for Blue Artifact together.”
Candice hesitated. “What do you mean?”
*Candice, at the gathering Mr. Elysian took me to yesterday, Mr. Conrad Matthias, the owner of
Blue Artifact, was also there,” Sonia said. Candice picked up on what she was not saying. That
Alex had already approached Mr. Matthias regarding the collaboration.
Looking at her own proposal, Candice understood Alex’s intention.
It was simply to make her a stepping stone for Sonia once again.
Candice tried to keep her expression calm. “Do you want her to assist me, or do you want me to
assist her?” she asked Alex.
Alex’s expression remained cold, his gaze distant. When he spoke, his voice was emotionless.”
Since you’re leaving Aether, isn’t it normal to hand over the resources in your hands?”
With a slow and measured tone, Sonia said, “Candice, I will definitely learn a lot from you.”
While Sonia’s face showed delight, Candice felt a chill in her bones.
The plan she had worked on for several nights now seemed like it was about to be offered up on a
silver platter for Sonia’s benefit.
Candice met Alex’s dark eyes across the desk. He spoke without any emotion. “What’s the
matter? Any objections?”
Candice’s heart clenched. She looked at the proposal that was set before Alex. “You said that I had the right to manage the project with Blue Artifact.”
“There hasn’t been much progress in your work.” Alex did not leave her any dignity. His gaze was cold. “I do not wish for your personal abilities to delay the company’s progress.”
Candice felt that Alex’s words were ridiculous. But she had nothing to refute his claim with. After all, she had not been able to get in contact with Zane.
She was unwilling to admit defeat, however. She looked straight at Alex and said, “I can go and

“Can Mr. Clark be compared to Mr. Matthias?” Annoyance was visible on Alex’s face. He put the set of documents aside and his tone turned slightly chilling. “Candice, can you not tell what’s important?”
Candice frowned, unable to understand what he meant.
Did he want her to be obedient and listen to everything Sonia said? Or was it that all the credit for getting the contract with Blue Artifact had to be given to Sonia?
Her gaze trembled and her voice was soft. “Very well. We’ll do it as you wish.”
When Candice left the office, Sonia stayed behind.
She moved to Alex’s side and asked hesitantly, “Lex, will I really be able to get the contract with Blue Artifact successfully?”
Alex fell silent for a moment before casually saying, “She will not let the collaboration fall
through.”
Sonia immediately understood that he was referring to Candice. She nodded and gave Alex her
guarantee demurely. “Lex, don’t worry. I will try to learn well from Candice. In the future, when she
is no longer in the company. I’ll be able to help you too.”
Alex was stunned for a moment as a hint of complicated emotions flashed through his eyes.
