Chapter 0017
“What is there to tell,” Candice muttered softly.
She prepared some oatmeal for herself. Her period was around the corner, so she planned to skip coffee for the time being.
She asked Alex, “You want some?”
The answer she got was the door slamming on her.
It was stormy last night and the road was still wet.
Candice’s car was in the workshop, so she had to take a taxi to work.
When she went downstairs, she ran into Alex again but he turned a blind eye to her, so she wisely stayed away from him. She did not even ask him to give her a ride and would rather take a taxi.
Candice arrived at the office a few minutes later than usual. When she got to her desk, she heard chuckles.
She looked up and saw several other colleagues at Sonia’s table.
Sonia had a bag of coffee and breakfast on her table, which she got from
downstairs.
Sonia smiled at her and innocently said, “Good morning, Candice. Come, have some breakfast.”
Candice shook her head. “It’s okay. I’ve eaten.”
“But I bought coffee for everyone, and Alex paid for it.”
Sonia had gotten used to calling Alex by his name.
She brought a cup of Americano over and said with a bright smile, “Candice, I know you like Americano, no sugar.”

Candice was bothered by how the colleague referred to Sonia as the real girlfriend.
Alex was a player and he had many women by his side before, but no one had ever legitimately taken the title of his girlfriend, not even Candice herself.
Candice’s mind wandered for the entire day.
When it was time to go home, Alex called her to his office.
“There’s a business trip next week. I’m sending you and Peter.”
The office door was open and Alex’s voice was cold.
Candice knew that from Sonia’s place, she was able to see what was happening inside Alex’s office.
She nodded and said, “If that’s all, I’ll be going then.”
She always had a tough time when she had her period. Her body would be sore and her tummy would rumble.
She counted the days in her mind and believed her cycle was early this time.
“You didn’t accept the coffee Sonia offered you?” Alex suddenly asked as he stared at Candice with his deep eyes.
Candice started to feel the discomfort torturing her body. She frowned. “I’m not feeling well, I don’t want coffee.”
Alex paused and then frivolously said, “She thought she angered you, she felt bad about it.”
Candice knew Sonia must have told Alex about this morning.
She looked at Alex and said, “So?”
“Take whatever she gives you next time.”
