Chapter 0198
Coming out of the restaurant, the rain had lightened up a bit.
“Does your hand still hurt?” Hanley asked Candice. “If it still hurts, let’s go to the hospital.”
Candice moved her wrist slightly. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
On the way back, Hanley remained silent. Candice guessed it was probably because Mrs. Jenkins. had mentioned his grandfather’s situation.
However, it was Hanley’s personal matter, and Candice did not feel it was appropriate to pry.
Surprisingly, Hanley still drove to a nearby hospital. He stopped the car and looked at Candice’s wrist. “The injury is on your right hand. It’s better to have it checked for peace of mind.”
He was kind, and Candice did not refuse. Fortunately, the results turned out fine, just a slight
sprain. Resting would suffice.
After the examination, it was already evening. Considering the time, Yvonne was probably close to
arriving in Noxville.
Candice actually still wanted to go to the Southern Gin Hotel to see Chad, but since Hanley was with her, she said nothing. She planned to return to the villa first and then go out on her own.
This way, she could also think about how to communicate with Chad.
Lisa called just as Hanley parked the car. Candice checked the time and saw that it was the end
of the workday.
She informed Hanley and answered Lisa’s call while walking out of the garage.
“Candice?” Lisa was silent for a moment before speaking. “I heard you resigned from Aether. Why?
The news of Candice’s resignation was something easily found out with a bit of inquiry.
Pretending not to sense the probing in Lisa’s words, Candice replied calmly. “Resigning is quite normal. What about you? Why are you with Francis now?”
The last time she saw Lisa, she was still with Humphrey.
Lisa gave a bitter laugh. “What else could it be? The salary here is higher.”

“Is that so?” Candice walked out of the garage but did not enter the house, Instead, she went around the house to the partially covered outdoor balcony.
She watched the rain fall. “What made you think of calling me?”
“You resioned from Aether. Is it because you found a better opportunity? If you did…”
Lisa’s sentence was unfinished, but Candice understood what she meant. Lowering her gaze, she said, “There’s no better opportunity. I plan to take a break for a while.”
“Is that so…” Lisa’s tone still held some disbelief, but Candice did not want to say more. Her encounter with Francis today had put her in a bad mood.
Furthermore, Lisa was currently with him.
But remembering Francis‘ past deeds, Candice still reminded Lisa. “Francis is not a good person.
Be careful on your own.”
Candice heard Lisa take a deep breath, and heard the complexity in her tone. “I left the same company. How would I not know what kind of a person he is? But when I left Aether, Mr. Elysian informed other companies, and I couldn’t find such a good job again.” Lisa’s tone was noticeably
dim.
If it weren’t for Alex’s Influence, she would not have left Aether to join Humphrey, and now she was following Francis.
Neither of these two Individuals were good people.
Candice sensed the bitterness in Lisa’s tone. Her claim of not harboring any resentment was likely false. Finding an excuse, she hung up the phone.
She did not know how to handle her own situation right now, let alone have the energy to listen to someone else’s complaints.
Moreover, the thought of Lisa being involved with Francis made Candice feel repulsed.
Candice paused. Lisa had mentioned that when she left Aether, Mr. Elysian had informed other companies. She lowered her head slightly, her mind filled with thoughts, her expression heavy.
She did not stay long at the villa. After greeting Nadia and the rest, she prepared to make another trip to the hospital.
However, Hanley stopped her. He tossed his car keys to her. “Drive my car. I’ll call the mechanic later. Your car got hit, it’s safer to get it repaired.”
Candice did not refuse and took the keys, heading out.

Joe had just finished dinner when the caregiver showed Candice the results of yesterday’s examination. There was not much change.
She asked the caregiver. “Did Dr. Brooks say anything when he came today?”
“No.”
Candice carefully put away the examination results. She needed to see Dr. Brooks again.
If there was really no solution with Chad, then she might have to consider changing doctors.
Lost in her thoughts, Candice walked to a corner without paying attention and accidentally
bumped into someone.
Startled, she apologized to the person, only to hear a somewhat surprised voice. “Candice?”
Candice was stunned momentarily, looked up and saw Sawyer.
She glanced behind Sawyer subconsciously, thinking that Alex might also be there.
Sawyer also noticed her actions. He smiled. “Mr. Elysian is still discussing matters with someone. I just came out after answering a call.”
“What is he discussing here?”
“Aether recently organized a public welfare health check event, and Mr. Elysian came to discuss it.
She nodded and, avoiding Sawyer, walked toward Dr. Brook’s office.
Inside, there was a conversation, and as Candice pushed the door open, she saw Alex discussing
something with Dr. Brooks.
Upon hearing the door opening, the conversation abruptly stopped, and Alex’s gaze turned
towards her.
He showed no reaction upon seeing Candice. His features were shrouded in a layer of coldness.
