Chapter 0230
They were standing very close to each other and the faint smell of alcohol on Alex kept wafting over to Candice.
It was very much like the wine Sonia had spilled on her clothes.
Candice turned her face sideways, frowning. She felt pressured.
Alex’s hand was still on her neck and Candice felt that perhaps Alex was drunk and unable to think straight. She gritted her teeth and hit Alex’s hand away, taking a few steps back. “Mr. Elysian, please be mindful of boundarie,” she reminded him with a cold look.
Alex’s eyes darkened, his emotions unreadable. He just stared at Candice, his pitch black eyes dark enough to suck her right in.
After a while, he asked hoarsely, “Are you able to accept anyone as long as it is a man?”
He was drunk, and his breathing was heavy. The corners of his eyes were a little reddened from
the alcohol.
“Me. Jackson, Hanley, Solomon. Who will it be next? Sieg or that Moreno guy?” Hatred brimmed in Alex’s eyes. “Should I say that you are too forbearing or should I say that you are too open- minded?”
Candice did not want to analyze things with a drunkard. Besides, Alex was talking about groundless things. She had explained countless times, but he would not believe her. What was the point of explaining again when he was drunk?
Candice shut her eyes and tried hard to calm her raging emotions before opening her eyes again.
She stared at Alex. “Since you believe I’m such a person, why do you keep coming to me?”
He had hidden her behind his back earlier. Why?
Candice suppressed her anger and raised her head slightly, looking directly into Alex’s eyes. Alex, you are even cheaper than I am like this. You’ll make me think that you can’t forget me, so
you keep seeking me out.”
Alex’s eyes darkened and he frowned, giving out a chilling aura. He squinted. “Are you even worthy of such efforts?”
Candice smiled self–deprecatingly. She paused for a moment before saying, “Yeah, I’m not
worthy.”
The estate was bright with lights, but the parking lot was a little darker as there were many trees
nearby.
When Candice found her car, she accidentally kicked into a stone and the pain jolted through her.
She sat in the car for quite a while before leaving.
When she got home, it was very late. After washing up, Candice lay down and fell asleep. The foot she had kicked the stone with still throbbed dully.
The next morning, Candice was awoken by her phone ringing.
It was a call from Noxville. Candice glanced at it before hanging up and blocking the number.
She was practiced at it now. Her blacklist already had more than twenty phone numbers originating from Noxville.
With her grandfather transferred to a normal ward, visiting hours were longer, so Candice went
over to the hospital to accompany Joe for a check up before going to see Hanley and the rest.
Along the way, she received a call from Jackson. “Candy, didn’t you leave first last night? Why did you go back?”
“I dropped my purse, so I went back to get it.” Jackson hesitated and Candice’s brow twitched.
What happened?”
“Nothing. It’s just that there are some people who are spreading rumors. I was worried about you so I called to ask. Since you’re fine, I feel better.”
Although Jackson did not explain things clearly, Candice could guess what was going on.
Sieg must have spread what happened between Solomon and her, saying that she had gone back. intentionally to seduce Solomon.
Candice’s eyes dulled. These people had nothing to do all day and loved to make others.
miserable.
However, Jackson’s call
Candice pursed her lips and smiled self–deprecatingly. With a pot–stirrer like Sieg around, her
reputation was not great. It was normal that Jackson would be suspicious.
When she arrived at Hanley’s, there was even worse news.
Aether was also partaking in Blue Artifact and Burning Star’s collaborative exhibition.
Previously, Candice had put in a lot of effort for the Aether and Blue Artifact collaboration, so she was only surprised for a moment before calmly accepting it.
“Aether’s side can be handed over to Nadia or Ryan. You don’t have to take part.” Hanley said.
“Didn’t we agree that I will be the one who deals with all the companies?” Candice said. She
sounded very calm. “Furthermore, it’s just some signatory contract matters. They won’t be participating in the designing aspects.”
Aether was actually also one of the investors in the exhibition.
Candice was mentally prepared, but she did not expect that she would immediately receive a call from the Aether’s person–in–charge in the afternoon, asking her to make a trip over to discuss the
contract matters.
It was for work, so Candice had to go.
She arrived at Aether and was on the first floor, waiting for the elevator. She was checking
messages on her phone, her head lowered.
The elevator opened and she looked up. Alex was in the elevator, shrouded in a cold aura.
Solomon beside him.
Solomon raised a brow and whistled.
Candice looked at him indifferently. “This is the first floor.”
Solomon did not reply, but instead asked. “Are you a part of Aether?”
“No.”
“No.”
Two voices sounded at the same time. Alex strode out of the elevator. His voice was flat as he
spoke. “She was dismissed from Aether.”
“Why?” Solomon asked, following him.
Candice walked into the elevator, and didn’t hear Alex’s answer clearly. She went to her meeting.
The people who she was dealing with were coincidentally Kayla and Sawyer, so everything went
very smoothly.
