Chapter 0262 

The rain was pouring heavily. Candice waited in the hotel lobby for a while before a hired car 

finally arrived. 

When she arrived at the hospital, a lightning bolt streaked across the sky. Candice’s face remained expressionless, and her black eyes, like deep and still pools, appeared particularly indifferent under that brief flash of brightness. 

Peach had just finished a drip and the caregiver was taking care of her, watching her as she fell asleep. 

Seeing Candice coming over, both of them were stunned. From the balcony on the corridor, it was raining cats and dogs outside. 

Peach put on a sweater as she sat opposite Candice. She was timid, not daring to speak, just looking at Candice. 

Candice clicked on a couple of photos on her phone and then zoomed in before showing them to Peach. She asked her softly. “Did this person come and see your mother?” 

The photos had been taken during the previous Aether team building event. On her way to the hospital Candice had asked for them from Kayla. 

That was a photo of Sonia and Alex. Candice enlarged the part where Sonia was and showed it to 

Peach. 

Peach looked at the photo for a while before nodding. “She did. This sister came to see mom a couple of times. At home and also at the hospital.” Peach bit the bottom of her lip, looking at Candice carefully. “She would bring me food each time and she speaks very gently too.” 

With the way Yvonne took care of Peach, she rarely left Peach alone. It was why Candice came to 

check. As long as she had witnessed Sonia seeking out Yvonne 

Candice’s fingers curled into fists.. She could not help but feel like her throat had tightened. Then, do you know what she came to your mom about?” 

A hint of confusion appeared in Peach’s eyes. “That lady asked me if I wanted to be cured and mom started crying.” 

“What happened later on?” Candice looked at Peach’s small face, her gaze deep. 

Peach sniffled, pursing her lips not daring to say more. 

Candice made a guess and her gaze darkened. “Tell me the truth.” 

“She said that you had money and asked mom to seek you out. She said that you surely wouldn’t abandon us.” 

Candice’s expression turned a little cold. She had not known that Sonia could actually make her way into her family and give Yvonne Ideas. Although she had only been going on a hunch at the start, now with Peach’s and Ivor’s words, Candice did not need to ask to make a guess what had happened. 

She had known that Sonia had always targeted her, but she had never thought that she would actually seek Yvonne out and encourage her to make so much trouble. 

Although Ivor and Yvonne were foolish, at least they would not have set their sights on her grandfather, especially– 

Candice looked up suddenly. Ivor had mentioned selling her grandfather’s organs 

They had been in Dorrington for a while, and Candice had bumped into Sonia in the hospital— 

It was stormy outside and coincidentally lighted Candice’s dark, cold expression. 

The rain did not ease up the whole night, and only stopped the next morning. 

Candice had just woken up when Greg called her. He asked her to wait at Alex’s hotel and they would go to the police station together. 

Candice hung up and looked at herself in the mirror. Her face was pale and her eyes had dark circles underneath. Her chin was sharp. She had not slept the entire night, thinking of Sonia. 

She idly put on make–up, forcefully covering up her exhausted countenance before leaving. 

When she arrived, the three of them were having breakfast. 

Candice’s gaze landed on Sonia. She didn’t bother to conceal the sharpness in her eyes. 

Sonia frowned as she looked up. “Candice, why do you keep looking at me?” 

Candice’s expression did not change, her gaze faint, seemingly unintentional as she spoke. “When 

I went to see Peach last night, she said that you used to visit her frequently.”
