The journey back to the hotel took forty minutes. Candice watched the greenery outside recede, her forehead locked in a frown.
"Not feeling well?" Alex's deep and slightly hoarse voice rang out, and Candice snapped out of her thoughts.
"No."
"Really? Your complexion looks bad."
Candice pursed her lips and remained silent for a moment, but she could not help asking, "Do you really think it's a coincidence?"
She looked very serious, and Alex looked at her calmly. "What do you think it was?"
Candice opened her mouth but did not know what to say. If this was not a coincidence, then who was responsible? She didn’t have any enemies in Solaris.
Aether's focus had not been on Solaris before, so she’d had hardly any contact with this side of the city. Every time she came, it was simply for business.
She looked out the window again and sighed softly. "Maybe I've been too nervous lately, so I'm thinking too much."
Alex lowered his gaze and did not say anything.

After returning to the hotel, Candice charged her mobile phone and went to wash up. She no longer dwelled on the matter. At most, she would just be more careful in the future.
But what surprised Candice was that Barox came to find her.
"Is something wrong?" Candice had just finished washing and drying her hair. She was wearing gray cotton house clothes and a long windbreaker jacket.
Barox was holding a lunch box in his hand. His face was expressionless and his eyes were lifeless. "Yana said she wanted to have supper with you."
Candice looked at his other hand, and sure enough, it was Yana on video again.
Candice was silent for a while and asked Yana. "Why can't you just call me on video?"
Yana chuckled. "Isn't it livelier with more people?"
After she finished speaking, she took a sip of wine. Only then did Candice see that there were several bottles of wine on the table in front of her, one of which was already empty.
Obviously, Yana was not in a good mood.
Candice looked back at Barox. His expression was extremely dark. Candice pursed her lips and stepped aside. "Come in and talk."
However, before Barox stepped in, a deep voice came from behind. "Candice."
Barox turned around and saw Alex standing outside with a cold expression. He had changed into a white shirt and his eyes were like a deep pool filled with cold water. He looked at Barox, and then his eyes fell on Candice.
Candice looked at Alex in surprise. "What are you doing here?" Her tone was not very nice, even a little cold, and she frowned slightly, as if she was unaccustomed to Alex's appearance.
Alex's expression remained calm. "Have you forgotten that you came to see me that night?"
The statement was very ambiguous.
"I was only looking for you because of Redshade's tender documents," she retorted.
Alex's eyes were cold. "Did I say it wasn't because of this?" There was coldness and anger in his tone.
Candice's expression darkened and she wanted to speak.
