Since Candice returned to Dorrington, she’d had no contact with Henry.
He looked pretty much the same as he before, still appearing gentle and refined, with a scholarly and elegant demeanor.
Candice stood a few steps away, looking at his hand around Ava's waist, but her face showed no expression. The intimacy of this gesture was enough to prove their relationship.
Perhaps her gaze was too intense, as Henry glanced over. When he saw that it was Candice, his expression changed.
Ava, who had been leaning against him, also noticed his unusual reaction and looked up.
After seeing that it was Candice, Ava's expression darkened slightly. "Candice? What are you doing here?"
Candice glanced at her, about to speak, when she heard Henry's gentle voice. "Ava, can you go in first and wait for me? I need to deal with something first."
Ava's gaze shifted between Henry and Candice, and she snorted. "Henry, is this the daughter of your ex-wife you told me about?"
Her eyes and tone were both scrutinizing, as if she were in a superior position.
Candice calmly looked at the panic in Henry's eyes. She sneered and walked away. Whatever was going on between Henry and Ava was his own business and had nothing to do with her.
However, she had not reached the elevator when she heard footsteps behind her, followed by Henry's call, "Candice, wait!"
Candice stopped as Henry came from behind and pulled her to the side.
"I need to talk to you."
Candice stumbled from being pulled, but she steadied herself and looked towards the hotel entrance, where Ava was no longer visible.
Candice didn’t know if Henry had managed to appease Ava, but she looked at him mockingly.
"Why are you in Stugan City? Weren't you in Dorrington?" Henry asked. His tone was very rude, tinged with impatience.
Candice raised her gaze and said coldly, "Do I need to report to you wherever I am?"
"You!" A hint of anger flashed over Henry's face. He stared at Candice for a while before softening his tone. "I'm in Stugan City for an important matter. I'm not asking anything of you. Just don't interfere with my affairs."
Candice looked at Henry indifferently. The worry on his face was obvious, but it was clear that the emotion was not because of someone else, just merely because she had suddenly encountered him.
He felt that Candice might ruin things between him and Ava.
Candice withdrew her gaze as she spoke tonelessly, "Is your so-called important matter hugging Ava? Don't worry, I don't have the mood or time to interfere with you."
Her words were a bit harsh, and Henry's expression darkened. "Do you know her?"
"I don't."

Candice's good mood had instantly been ruined by the appearance of Henry and Ava. She went straight back to her room to rest.
However, just as she arrived, she saw Nadia looking for her. When Nadia saw her, she blinked and said, "Where did you go? We're planning to go to the ancient city now, and it's dinner time."
Candice had initially wanted to refuse, but seeing Nadia's happy expression, she did not want to spoil the mood.
She nodded and followed Nadia to the ancient city. Last time Candice was here, she had bought a small wooden carving as a gift for Jackson.
Nadia led the way and used her phone to find a newly opened trendy restaurant nearby, which served ethnic cuisine. It was crowded, and the taste was not particularly satisfying.
However, it was tangy, with a variety of vegetarian dishes, which suited Candice's current appetite, so she ate quite a bit.
