Chapter 1232
Ninian was not able to sleep well that night.
The thought of Everett falling off the balcony was torturing her.
As she recalled it, she had a feeling that she had a similar memory many years back.
At that time, she was still young. It was vague, and she could not recall the memory in detail.
There was this teenage boy who was courted by many people.
They would also meet on the balcony. He might look skinny and short, but he grew tall pretty quickly.
He did not talk much and would always watch her and hear her laugh.
Her memory was so hazy that when she woke up from her dream, she could barely remember it.
When she opened her eyes, she was laying sideways, facing the wall. She was panting, gasping for breath.
“Grapie? You’re awake!”
She turned over and saw George standing beside her bed. He tucked her in gently.
“George…” She spoke in a hoarse voice, but he gestured for her to stop talking.
“Don’t talk. Drink some warm water first.”
He took a cup of warm water and put a straw in it before handing it to her
Ninian’s lips were dry. So, she gulped down the water without hesitating.
The temperature of the water was just right, as if George had added medicine to it. The water tasted sweet and refreshing, soothing her dry throat.
She took several sips of it before putting it away.
George then put the thermos cup away.
“Is the wound on your back still hurting? Mrs. Tuffin reapplied the medicine twice in the evening. Are you feeling any better?”
She nodded.
His eyes were bloodshot.
“I’m okay. I’m a little worried about you, so I can’t sleep.”
