Chapter 26 Tasty but Strange
Emyr frowned.
The dish had a delightful aroma, with a chewy yet crisp texture, but there was also an indescribable scent mixed in.
He pointed to the dish and asked Charmaine, “What is this?”
Charmaine blinked and replied evasively, “Do you find it tasty, Mr. Emyr?”
“It’s not bad, but the flavor is a bit strange.”
As he spoke, he took another bite. Alfred and the others opened their mouths to speak but dared not make a sound.
Charmaine saw him swallow and smiled brightly, nodding. “It’s supposed to taste strange. It’s pig intestines, after all. The smell might be because I didn’t clean them well enough.”
As soon as Charmaine finished speaking, Emyr’s expression darkened.
Before he could react, she turned and dashed away.
Alfred and the others hurried to Emyr’s side. “Mr. Emyr, please have some soup! Don’t get upset, don’t get upset.”
Already a distance away, Charmaine turned back to shout, “You never said you don’t eat offal! Just a friendly heads–up, but there are pig intestines in that soup too!”
Having just taken a sip of the soup, Emyr’s anger reached its peak, his handsome features twisting into a grimace as he roared, his voice reverberating throughout the entire villa, “Charmaine Nelson!”
The following morning, Charmaine quietly slipped out of Eastlake before Emyr woke up.
She overheard the maids chatting about how he had thrown a fit the night before, taking nearly half an hour just to brush his teeth.
Charmaine couldn’t help but shudder.
Honestly, she had no idea he was such a neat freak. Thank goodness he didn’t come after her last night!
!
Perhaps he was afraid of seeing her and being reminded of the pig intestines and whatever else was inside them?
Her phone buzzed with a text message. She shook her head and opened it.
Rex: “Boss, everything is ready.”
Charmaine replied: “I’m on my way.”
She looked out the window, frowning.

He opened his eyes and instinctively looked around the room.
“Mr. Emyr.
Finished
Tad knocked and walked inside, catching the odd look Emyr directed at him. After a brief pause, he cautiously said, “Ms. Nelson left this morning.”
Emyr’s frowned in irritation. “I already said that her matters are not my concern.”
He propped himself up, looking annoyed. “Does she really think she can come and go from the Crosses’s villa as she pleases?”
Tad lowered his head. A moment later, Emyr’s raspy morning voice cut through the silence, “Where did she go?”
“Uh, Ms. Nelson took a half–day off from Mr. Foster, saying she had something to take care of.”
Emyr didn’t say anything more, quietly scrutinizing Tad.
Feeling uncertain, Tad asked, “Should I go look for her
When Emyr didn’t say anything, Tad took it as a sign to go. He turned and left.
Tad felt a bit bewildered. Does Mr. Emyr not want to see Ms. Nelson, or does he want to?
It seemed to him that Mr. Emyr’s thoughts had become even more difficult to read in recent days.
At the center of the new CBD in Eragos, the twin skyscrapers towered into the clouds, standing prominently in the center of the steel metropolis, their luxurious yet cold appearance demanding
attention.
