Chapter 27 The Show is About to Start
“Let’s go!”
The Nelsons strode into the lobby in a grand manner.
Milo approached the front desk with a sense of entitlement, insisting that they needed to see the CEO.
The receptionist replied coldly, “An appointment is necessary to meet the CEO.”
Fuming with anger, Milo shot back, “Do you have any idea who we are? Inform your CEO that the chairman and CEO of Nelson Group are right here!”
The receptionist shook her head. “Whoever you are, an appointment is required.”
“You!”
“Milo, these employees have their own difficulties. They hold low positions and can’t make decisions. They could risk their jobs over this.”
Leah stepped forward, showing her understanding and easing the situation. She took out the message she received yesterday. “We’re here for the designer re–evaluation.”
The receptionist replied, “The re–evaluation is on the eighteenth floor.”

Leah smiled softly, gently coaxing Willard and the others to take the elevator.
On the 100th floor.
The office offered a breathtaking view through its sweeping floor–to–ceiling windows, showcasing the vibrant skyline of Eragos.
Charmaine sat in the chairman’s seat, her gaze fixed on the computer screen displaying a happy family, her expression cold and detached.
Rex propped himself up on his desk, clicking his tongue repeatedly. “Does he think Ydris Group is his Nelson Group? He wants to boss around my employees and even use the CEO elevator? I’ve really seen everything today!”
He laughed with a mischievous grin. “Boss, if we actually let the Nelsons up here and they saw you in the chairman’s office, I bet these few would be so frightened they’d collapse!”
Charmaine scoffed. “Don’t get ahead of yourself.”

The Nelsons would only scold me for being so presumptuous.
She understood her family all too well.
Let’s go. The show is about to start.”
“Haha!”
Charmaine got up and took a few steps when she suddenly noticed something nearby. “What’s that building over there?”

Not far from the twin skyscrapers, separated by a river stood a tall building.
“That’s the Crosses. It used to be the tallest building in the city center. They built it early, but it’s not in a prime location like ours.”
Charmaine turned her gaze back, shaking her head.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that someone in that building across the way was staring at her with a gaze as menacing as a demon king.
It must have been the lingering effects of last night’s pig intestine!
At 18th Floor.
The elevator doors opened on both sides. Leah and her group emerged from one, while Charmaine stepped out from the penthouse on the other.
As their eyes met, both sides froze in surprise.
Leah’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively exclaimed, “What are you doing here?”
Milo stepped forward, his face filled with blatant disdain. “Oh, didn’t you sever ties with your family last night? Now you regret it? You heard we were bringing Leah for the re–evaluation and decided to tag along What is it? Hoping Dad and Jonah will forgive you and welcome you back home?”
Charmaine let out a scornful laugh. “What, is this building owned by your Nelson Group?”
No one answered.
Her words pierced through Willard and the others.
It was a crucial day, and Jonah didn’t want any accidents.
He walked up to Charmaine and lowered his voice, speaking with the distance of a superior and the command of a self–reliant brother.
“I don’t care what trouble you’re trying to cause. Leah’s re–evaluation is crucial today. We can discuss whatever you want when we get back.”
He paused, and then added to offer a guarantee, “I promise to do my best to fulfill your requests.”
Charmaine shook her head in disappointment, stepping back to create distance from Jonah.
“I thought you’d be at least a little smarter than Milo. Clearly, I overestimated you.”
