My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 1924

“I want this!”

Clint and Zaafea were pacing back and forth before a snack cart at the largest shopping strip in the Southern Territory.

“Didn’t you just finish eating?” Clint asked, a dumbfounded look on his face. “Just how much food can you pack into you? You’ve already had something from every snack cart here!”

Zaafea grinned impishly.

“Hehe… It’s such a rare occurrence to have you buy me a meal, Mr. Clint. Of course, I have to make sure I get my money’s worth!”

“Gosh, you…”

“I want this and this! Oh, and get me some of those rolls too. He’s paying.”

“Hey! Don’t treat this so matter-of-factly!” Clint shouted angrily.

In the end, Zaafea still managed to get something from every snack cart on the street. He massaged his round stomach as Clint smacked a hand on his shoulders angrily.

“Can we get down to actual business now?”

“We need to get a place to do that. Don’t tell me you’re thinking of heading home?”

“Let’s go to the racecourse up front. There’s no one there.”

“No one at a racecourse? Mr. Clint, don’t you think a racecourse would be a little too attention-grabbing?”

“It’s alright. I’ll just ask everyone to leave.”

“Huh? By using magic?”

“Nah. My family owns that racecourse. I just need to drop a request.”

Zaafea muttered, “Gosh, what a show-off. Also, I’m curious. Just how rich is your family?”

“There’s something I’m even more curious about. You usually have a foul expression on your face, and the aura you emanate is always unwelcoming. Why are you acting like a normal human being today?”

“Because I’ve had food to eat.”

“Well, gosh…” Clint gave Zaafea a look of disdain. “Are you making fun of me?”

“No, I’m not. I think I made myself clear. I’ve had food, so my body has other ‘consumables’ to work with and doesn't require my inner energy to provide it with strength. That’s why you can’t sense any of that foul aura.

"Gosh, you’re so much easier to talk to, Mr. Clint. All Nash does is ask and ask until he gets to the bottom of things. Talking to him is so boring!”

The mention of Nash’s name, coupled with everything he had learned of previously, piqued Clint’s interest further.

Once everyone in the racecourse had left, the two walked over to the middle of it.

Then, they settled down on the ground.

Zaafea was the first to speak, “I’ll ask you this one more time. You understand what I mean, don’t you?”

“Yes, I do. Let’s go!”

Zaafea had made his intentions clear. For Clint to achieve new breakthroughs, he would have to resolve all the tribulations he was currently facing at this point in his life.

Clint knew that Zaafea had left the final decision up to him, which meant he was the only one who could help himself resolve all these tribulations because there was nothing else Zaafea could do.

However, he still wanted to try because there was always a nagging feeling that he owed someone something in the back of his mind. Yet, he did not know what the source of that feeling was.

Clint knew he was strong, but it was not enough yet.

After that, Clint began summoning arrays.

The two of them entered Clint’s spiritual world.

“Let’s begin,” Zaafea said.
