Chapter 40
John tapped on the desk. “Alright, let’s stop the chatter. Our new classmate has just arrived, so let’s all be welcoming.”
“No problems, Mr. Everton,” the students responded respectfully. No one opposed him.
Pointing to an empty seat, John Instructed Lily, “You can sit next to Anya Mosley for now.”
Lily followed his gesture and looked toward the girl he indicated. With bouncing pigtails and a gentle demeanor, the girl exuded an air of cuteness.
Lily nodded and walked over directly. She found her seat by the window quite pleasant.
With a languid air, she tossed her books carelessly onto the table and draped her school uniform over her chair. Leaning back in her seat, she became unabashedly engrossed in her phone.
John watched Lily play on her phone. He was about to call her out, but seeing her cold expression and unapproachable demeanor, he decided not to say anything.
Despite her slender frame and average background, one might expect her to be easier to get along with than those rich kids. Yet, for some reason, John couldn’t shake the feeling that Lily was even more difficult to deal with than any of them.
Lily had a striking presence. The moment she stepped into the room, all eyes were on her.
As she scrolled through her phone right in front of John, some of the guys were impressed. “Wow, that girl’s got guts,” they whispered.
But some of the girls weren’t too fond of her. At the back of the classroom, a short–haired girl said to her long–haired friend in a hushed voice, “She’s s pretty face. What’s she so proud of?
The long–haired girl burned her head to glance at Lily. Her eyes darted around nervously, but she didn’t say anything
Anya wanted to greet Lily but found by too intimidating. Lily also always had a stem expression on her face, which made Anya hesitant to speak.
At the end of class, Anya hesitantly said, “Hi, my name is Anya Mosley”
so arrogant. All she has is a
Even though John had already introduced Anya, she still felt compelled to introduce herself personally as a courtesy. She was quite nervous and afraid that Lily would be unhappy. “Hello!” Lily turned to her and glanced at her with a smile.
Anya was stunned on the spot! “Lily’s stunning!” she thought. Her smile was so beautiful. Furthermore, she seemed easy to talk to, not nearly as intimidating as she’d imagined. Anya let out a sigh of relief and said with a smile, “If you don’t understand anything, you can ask me. I’ll help you as much as I can.” Her sweet face was accentuated by a smile that deepened her dimples, which made her even more charming.
Lily put away her phone and said, “Olcay.”
Since Lily didn’t seem like she wanted to talk, Anya didn’t bother her anymore.
She had thought that as a new transfer student, Lily would want to get to know her classmates first. But Lily simply took out a pair of headphones from her backpack, draped her school uniform over her head, and lay down on the desk to sleep.
Before she fell asleep, she said, “Don’t let anyone disturb me”
“Huh? Okay,” Anya replied softly.
The new student wasn’t easy to approach.
Lily slept through the morning, only waking up around noon. While she slumbered, some students considered approaching her to introduce themselves but ultimately chickened
