Nina Morrison has been in hospital for nearly five days. Although she lives alone in a very comfortable ward and is taken good care of by Paige, she still feels bored.
She walks aimlessly in the garden in a thin wool shawl and a large hospital uniform.
The autumn sun is bright but not blazing. It shines softly on Nina Morrison, making her feel warm.
Nina Morrison walks slowly along the lawn path, squinting and enjoying the warm sunshine.
Suddenly, something hits her leg and scares Nina Morrison to make a cry. She looks down and sees a lovely little puppy. It is snow-white and has a small pink collar around its neck.
The dog is not afraid. It looks up at Nina Morrison curiously, naughty and smart.
Nina Morrison recalls that when she was in high school, she wanted to have such a white puppy. Unfortunately, her father's company went bankrupt before her wish came true. From then on, raising a dog has become a dream that can never be realized...
Nina Morrison is attracted by the cute puppy. She crouches down and strokes the dog's round head. "Baby, what's your name? Where is your master? Are you lost?"
The puppy seems to understand what she says, barking twice and wagging its tail happily.
Nina Morrison sees that the puppy is cute and she wants to play with it. She picks up some pinecones from the grass and plays a ball throwing game with the puppy.
"Snowball, Snowball..." An anxious female voice ranges from far to near. Nina Morrison looks up and sees a slim figure coming in the distance.
Nina Morrison pats the dog on the head and says softly, "Snowball, here comes your master! Go and find her!"
But Snowball does not listen to her. It is concentrating on playing with pinecones on the ground.
