On the grand and elegant stage, the priest is making a vow of marriage.
Now let's make a vow of marriage in front of God. I will ask you the same question separately. This is a long question. Please answer after listening.
"Andrew, would you like to marry Abby, live with her in accordance with the Bible's teachings, be one with her in front of God, love her, comfort her, respect her, protect her, just like you love yourself, whether she is sick or healthy, rich or poor, be loyal to her until you leave the world?"
Everyone is quiet. The guests wait for Andrew's answer with a blessing smile.
One second... Two seconds... Three seconds... Andrew doesn't answer. The atmosphere is a bit awkward. The audience in the front row begin to whisper.
Abby is still smiling. She looks like a happy bride. But her palms are sweating.
Andrew's eyes seem to be looking at her, but they don't have a focal length at all. He stands in front of her, but there is no her in his eyes. His eyes look far away. Abby will never be able to reach that place in her life.
Andrew never loves her. He has always loved Nina.
Abby has never been so aware of it.
Just as the atmosphere is stifling, Andrew says, "I do." His voice is flat and not very emotional. But if you listen carefully, you can hear the bitterness in his voice.
Abby clenches her teeth. Her beautiful jaw becomes ugly.
The wedding is the most glorious and happiest time for every woman. But she is humiliated by her husband at the wedding. His hesitation is the greatest humiliation. It's not her that he wants to marry in his heart.
A woman named Nina is the source of her humiliation.
Nina. Abby calls out the name coldly in her heart. She keeps a smile on her face. Her right hand is clenched into a fist. Her fingernails are pinching her palm.
"Abby, would you like to marry Andrew, live with him in accordance with the Bible's teachings, be one with him in front of God, love him, comfort him, respect him, protect him, just like you love yourself, whether he is sick or healthy, rich or poor, be loyal to him until you leave the world?"
"I do." Abby replies without hesitation. Even if Andrew doesn't love her, she can make him love her without Nina.
The audience begin to applaud. They bless the bridegroom and the bride.
Lucien and Jarvis are sitting in the central VIP area. It is the closest to the stage and the best place to watch the ceremony. They can clearly see the eyes of the people on the stage.
Lucien sees that Andrew doesn't love Abby. A question comes to his mind. Does Andrew Love Nina? He thinks of Andrew buying Nina the dress at the dress shop. He remembers that Andrew saved Nina when she was hijacked by the kidnappers and they stayed out all night.
Lucien is furious! His dark eyes are full of anger! He is cheated by Nina! They are not neighbors. He doesn't just treat her as a sister! Nonsense! How many lies does the woman tell him?
She and Andrew may not be as pure as she said! He didn't find evidence on her that day, but that doesn't mean she's pure!
Lucien suddenly feels that he has trusted Nina too much!
But she betrayed him and ran away!
His dark eyes are filled with anger. There seems to be blood in his eyes. Nina, you'd better not let me catch you! Otherwise you will die miserably! Lucien swears to God.
The priest is speaking on the stage.
"Now exchange rings and use them as a token of marriage." The priest looks at the new couple with relief. The bridegroom is handsome and the bride is beautiful. They are a good match.
Andrew takes out a black velvet box and opens it gently. The sun shines on the jewel to make it shine brightly. Lucien squints.
Abby reaches out her hand with lace gloves. Andrew puts the ring gently on her finger.
At the VIP table, Lucien's eyes become sharp!
"Wait!" His low magnetic voice breaks the harmony of the wedding. Lucien gets up from the chair. He pushes the crowd away and goes to the stage!
All the guests are shocked by him!
