Linda looked at the blooming flowers in the yard. 

They weren’t the most exquisite blooms, 

Initially, Samson wanted to plant Dark Orchid Roses here, but the gardener mentioned that he had his own roses, though not of the highest grade. However, he could ensure they would add color to the yard and be well–maintained throughout their growth. 

Linda decided to buy the roses from the gardener. After all, it was a good thing to support someone who had put so much effort into Lexi’s yard. 

“Linda, if you could go back to the past, would you still choose me?” 

William’s unexpected question made Linda think for a long while 

“It could go back to the past, I would still save you when we are both in danger. My parents taught me that saving a life is more valuable than the greatest acts of charity. I would have rescued you, but I wouldn’t listen to your promises.” 

I also wouldn’t have spent over ten years on a man’s empty promises, only to end up in such a state. 

“Speaking of which, I don’t know if you’ve looked into this before.” Linda recalled what Lina had said that the kidnapping case might be more complicated than it seemed. “Many aspects of this kidnapping case baven’t been uncovered yet. I will continue to look into it,” William replied, as if he, too, had wondered about what Linda had thought. “Then, look into it. I believe the final outcome won’t be much different.” 

Time had passed, and without witnesses or evidence, even if they uncovered some other connection, it would likely be dismissed due to the passage of time. That was just how society worked. 

People, after all, could never let go. 

“Linda, I’m truly sorry for the past ” 

Since she came home, Linda had heard countless apologies from William. What did these apologies really mean? Could they ever make up for the grievances she had suffered? “You don’t have to apologize anymore. I told you I’ve already let go of both the past relationship and you 

“From now on, we’ll just be partners, and you’ll be Lexi’s godfather. Beyond that, I don’t want to have any more contact with you. We should also meet less frequently.”

It was Samson calling 

Linda ignored William and answered the call immediately. “What is it? Aren’t you at work?
