Julia's affection for Elisa was far greater than that of Darren's.
Moreover, there hadn't been any conflict between her and Elisa. Therefore, it made no sense for her fervent fondness to have turned into such indifference in a heartbeat.
Julia threw him a cold look. “Do I need a reason to dislike someone? I think that Kaylee is quite good. I'm going to see her now to discuss marriage matters—”
“What wedding matters? Who's getting married?”
Darren interrupted Julia urgently, his entire person dumbfounded and incredulous.
Julia glared at him fiercely. “Kaylee is the same age as Gareth. If she doesn't marry Gareth, is she supposed to marry me? Who else in the Wickam family needs to get married right now?”
While saying that, she casually left Darren behind her.
Her determined back and the tone in which she spoke earlier had Darren increasingly certain that she had contracted a significant problem recently.
He immediately gave the housekeepers a look, and several of them promptly followed Julia.
Right after that, he called Gareth.
Gareth remained unmoved at that moment, for he was not afraid of anyone's threats.
At that critical moment, especially, there was no way he would put Elisa in danger.
Unexpectedly, his grandfather called him this time.
“Grandpa?” Gareth answered the call, his voice filled with confusion.
Darren started somberly, “I've noticed something off about your grandmother recently. She used to always talk about setting you up with Elisa. But now, she's trying to match you with Kaylee. Do you know what she just said? She's going to look for Kaylee to discuss marriage matters. What insanity! That Kaylee just appeared out of nowhere. Besides, she's inferior to everyone around you in terms of looks. Doesn't Liz have medical skills? Quickly call Liz over to treat your grandmother!”
He became increasingly anxious as he spoke.
Gareth pressed his lips together, his expression turning even more serious.
