Although the man was briefly stunned, he dared not give it any thought. Taking a step back, Thomas exited.

When Thomas was in view, Gareth noticed that the door was shut. With a serious attitude, he went forward:

“Mr. Wickam,” said his operative. “Mr. Semoa is at Benett’s house.”

Gareth’s expression darkened.

He cast a cold gaze at the man, “It’s just the two of them?”

“No, there are Miss Gilio and Miss Markee with her.” The man adjusted his tie, “Mr. Carle aims to visit to be a possible suitor for Elisa Benett.”

Thomas felt a frigid look from Gareth.

“Everyone utilized this trick on Mr. Carle because his predicament was so dire. They haven’t told him the truth since his mind can’t handle the stress right now, but I am concerned that Miss Benett may be misled by Mr. Carle’s predicament if things continue this way.”

Gareth’s gripped his fountain pen tighter.

He immediately set it down the next second, as if he had no desire to read the document in front of him.

Thomas bowed his head and rubbed his nose; he had already spoken what needed to be said.

Now that Mr. Wickam wished to maintain his integrity, he refuses to acknowledge his feelings for Elisa. Leaving him in charge of keeping an eye on her is uncomfortable and extremely exhausting.

I’m just an employee, but even a blind man can tell he’s obsessed with this woman. I’ll save my skin and not say anything.

Thomas obediently complies with Gareth’s commands.

Thomas coughed quietly, realizing that Gareth had never given any commands. “Is there anything else you wish to update?”

Gareth clenched his jaws and remained silent.

Thomas left after realizing their meeting has concluded.

There was no one else in the office save Gareth. The man took up the phone irritably but immediately slammed it down once more.

Now what.

Should I question Elisa?
