"That's not necessarily true, Nelly. After spending some time together, our relationship has improved. Let me be honest with you," Alfred said.
Noelle pursed her lips. She could already guess what Alfred was about to say.
"Nelly, you're still young. When you get to university, you'll enjoy the freedom of romance and meet someone you like. When that happens, you'll realize that your current thoughts are a little immature," Alfred continued.
Noelle couldn't help but laugh a little. "I get it. See you next time."
As she sat in the car, Cedric's image popped into her mind. Even Alfred had noticed her feelings for Cedric. It felt so embarrassing.
Noelle sighed. It was clear she needed to shift her focus and start a new chapter in her life.
When she arrived at the new apartment she'd purchased, she admired its sleek decor and well-furnished setup. It was move-in ready, and the neighborhood offered excellent security.
Later that evening, Noelle started her usual live stream. After finishing a Player Kill match, she addressed her fans. "Hey, everyone. As you know, I'm going to school soon, so I'll be busier. From now on, my live streams will be scheduled for weekends, and I'll go live randomly during the week."
She had a lot on her plate. When she first started streaming, it was just to make money. Now, she didn't need to worry about money, and her studies came first.
Besides, the artificial intelligence project she was involved in with Alfred also required her full attention. Her time for livestreaming would be limited.
Before she ended the live stream, she noticed Cedric's avatar was greyed out. A small pang of disappointment hit her. It felt strange not having him around. Indeed, habits were powerful things.
The next day, Noelle received a call from Alfred. "The company's artificial intelligence project has established a branch. I'll send you the address.
"You can head over tomorrow to get familiar with it. Once the project launches, we'll all get a share of the profits!"
"Got it," Noelle replied.
