No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 626

Conrad's gaze deepened as he looked at me, and I offered a faint smile, "You don't have to say it; I already know who it is."

"Who do you think it is?" he asked.

We locked eyes, but I remained silent.

Conrad sat up, looking like he was about to get out of bed. "Felicia, you don't think it's Dustin, do you? Are you with him to avenge Ernest?"

After years of being together, he still understood me.

"If not him, then who?" I pressed directly.

"Felicia, it can't be Dustin. How could you even think that? But as for who it really is, I can't say for sure. I mentioned there might be someone behind the scenes, but it was just a guess," Conrad backtracked.

I stayed calm, "If it's not him, that's even better. Being with him doesn't weigh me down."

Conrad froze, "Felicia..."

I sighed, "Conrad, we've known each other for ten years and were in love for four of them. Then, I fell in love with Ernest. I've experienced both unrequited love and love at first sight. Love is just that – loving someone is too exhausting. I want to try being loved for a change."

"Fine, you want to experience that, I get it. But it absolutely cannot be Dustin," Conrad objected strongly.

I chuckled softly, "Why can't it be him? Give me one reason."

Conrad looked like he'd been struck by lightning, "Felicia, you know the reason. Do you really want me to spell it out? He's my brother, and you were my fiancée. If you two were to get together, what would people think of me, of the Wagner family? How am I supposed to face you, to live with myself?"

I didn't respond right away, pausing for two seconds but still meeting his gaze, "So, for your ego and feelings, I should give up my happiness?"

Conrad was left speechless, taking a long time to respond.

Seeing him like this, I softened my tone, "I'm telling you now as a heads-up, to give you some time to adjust."

"Could you maybe, out of pity for me, not be with him? Anyone but Dustin," Conrad's voice cracked.
