No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 777

"Ugh," Fanny winced as Yates applied the ointment to her scraped skin. It hadn’t hurt when she got the injury, but the medicine stung like hell.

Yates paused, "Want me to be gentler?"

"It hurts even if you don’t touch it. Being gentle won't make a difference," Fanny replied softly.

Yates understood what she meant. "I'm sorry, Fanny. I couldn’t protect you, or find you right away."

He didn’t need anyone to tell him; he was already miffed at himself. What kind of boyfriend couldn’t protect his girl?

"I'm not blaming you," Fanny said honestly.

She really wasn’t. It wasn’t his fault; it was just a risk that came with her career.

"But I blame myself," Yates said, looking at her injuries with a mix of guilt and tenderness.

"Then turn that blame into care," Fanny said, playfully pouting. "I’m hurt, so my boyfriend needs to take good care of me."

How could he say no to that?

"Of course," he agreed.

Fanny grinned, "So, are you quitting your job?"

Yates nodded, "Work isn’t as important as my girlfriend."

"I’m just kidding. Your work is important, too. You should focus on that," Fanny knew why he had come back this time.

"No worries. I’ll talk with them and take the next few days to look after you," Yates insisted.

That was his decision, and Fanny didn’t argue further.

After carefully applying the ointment, Yates said, "Let’s go home."

Fanny’s injuries weren’t serious enough to need a hospital stay, but the whole ordeal had left her exhausted. She was ready to leave with Yates.
