No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 804

"No worries!" Fanny said, tucking her phone away with a casual flick.

When someone says it's nothing, it's usually something. But she wasn't ready to spill the beans, and I wasn't about to pry.

Probably had something to do with Yates.

It's hard to completely cut ties sometimes. It's like trying to give up chocolate; the craving just never really goes away. Even though Conrad and I had been apart for ages and I was already seeing someone new, we still had this constant back-and-forth thing. Not necessarily about love, but there were always other strings attached.

Jacqueline found out I was pregnant, and she showed up at my place with a basket full of goodies.

"How wonderful, Felicia's going to be a mom!" she beamed.

"Felicia, the hospital's no place for you—terrible food and all. Why not come home? I'll take care of you like my own," she insisted.

Her excitement was written all over her face, though my baby had nothing to do with the Wagner family. Her joy was more about me still being her girl, the one she raised, even if I wasn't the daughter-in-law she'd once hoped for.

Sure, the Wagners had a hand in my parents' deaths, but I couldn't deny that in the ten years with them, they'd genuinely cared for and protected me, even if guilt played a part.

"Aunt Jackie, you've got Mr. Wagner to look after. Adding me to the mix would just wear you out. Besides, being at the hospital means I'm right next to the doctors if anything happens," I gently declined.
