No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 803

I only trust her.

"It's okay, I've seen your ultrasound. The baby looks great," Fanny reassured me with a slight, almost imperceptible smile that was enough to calm my racing heart.

"Fanny, you have to help me keep this baby safe," I pleaded, anxiety lacing my voice.

"Of course, it's the love child of you and Mr. Collins," Fanny teased, trying to lighten the mood.

Conrad turned away, but in that fleeting moment, I caught a glimpse of lingering sadness in his eyes.

In the story of us, I'd managed to walk away unscathed. He said he was over it, but I wasn't so sure.

Thanks to Fanny's arrangements, I was admitted into the hospital room, and it was a VIP suite, not just her break room.

The pain in my abdomen had subsided, and there wasn't any more bleeding. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, enough to let my mind wander a bit. "So, this Dr. Alison, she seems to have just appeared out of nowhere. What's her story?"

Fanny hesitated for a brief moment. "She's Milly's aunt or maybe her godmother."

I got the picture immediately. I studied Fanny's expression; it was the same as always, but she seemed a bit more worn, a bit more tired.

She had broken up with Yates. Even though it was her decision, born out of deep disappointment, Yates had been the love of her youth. Severing that connection so abruptly was bound to hurt...

I knew that feeling all too well.

This wasn't something you could console someone over, so I didn't try. I just let it be and said, "Conrad's probably going to have a word with the hospital director about her."

"Let him," Fanny replied. She wasn't one to turn the other cheek. If someone wronged her, she wasn't about to help them clean their knife.

I chuckled, "Dr. Willis, the no-nonsense surgeon, charging for every cut and stitch."
