When she flipped open the lunchbox, her eyes were greeted by a vibrant and aromatic rainbow fried rice. Atop the rice sat a heart-shaped fried egg. The other container held a creamy soup. Just one whiff and her stomach started to grumble with anticipation.
Looking at the lovingly prepared breakfast spread out on the table, Sasha couldn’t help but let out a sly chuckle. “No wonder all the doctors and nurses at the hospital are falling over themselves for this guy. His charm offensive is off the charts.”
If she hadn’t been such a master of her craft, able to keep her roles on the stage and out of her life, she might have actually fallen for this Casanova’s tricks.
As she was tucking into her meal, her phone rang – it was Clara. She barely hit the answer button when Clara’s voice came through, laced with sly amusement, “Sasha, are you and Dr. Chase shacking up together? And you didn’t share such juicy gossip with me?”
Sasha nearly choked on her soup. After a coughing fit, she managed to ask, “Where did you hear that?”
“It came straight from the horse’s mouth – Dr. Chase. He called me this morning, saying you were too exhausted and still asleep, telling me not to disturb you. He said if I needed anything, I could talk to him since you two are living together.”
Sasha felt her blood boiling. She gritted her teeth and hissed, “Don’t listen to that jerk’s nonsense. We’re just acting, remember? After that incident with the child and the fans hounding me about my boyfriend, I thought I’d use him as a shield. How could I possibly be with him? Even if he were the last man on Earth, I wouldn’t give him a second glance.”
Clara chuckled. “You shouldn’t make such bold statements. They might come back to bite you.”
Sasha fumed, “Clara, are you turning on me now because you’re Mrs. Hayes, siding with your man’s friend and doubting me?”
“Of course not. I always trust you. It’s just that Dr. Chase’s actions could make one wonder.”
“Don’t wonder. There’s nothing between us. By the way, where are we eating tonight? Is your comatose husband fit enough for a public appearance?”
