Why couldn’t he remember anything?
He was about to enter the room to ask, when he heard Casey’s voice.
“Ian made your favorite spaghetti. I’ll have him bring it up so you two can talk.”
Clara immediately shook her head. “Dad, give me a little more time. I’m not ready to face him yet. If we don’t handle this right, even if we stay together, there will always be a barrier between us.”
Hearing this, Ian paused mid-step. His hands, hanging by his sides, slowly clenched into fists. He tiptoed down the stairs and pulled out his phone to call Chase.
As soon as the call connected, a groggy voice came through. “What’s up? You woke me up from my day off. If this isn’t important, I’m going to get upset.”
Ian’s tone was heavy. “Tell Sasha to take the phone.”
Realizing the seriousness, Chase quickly got out of bed. While running, he asked, “What’s the rush?”
“Clara found out the truth about her mom’s car accident. She doesn’t want to see me. I want Sasha to come and keep her company.”
Hearing the gravity of the situation, Chase didn’t even bother to knock and burst into Sasha’s room. “Sasha, Ian needs you. Clara, she —”
He hadn’t finished his sentence when he saw Sasha staring at him in shock for a few seconds before screaming. Sasha had just come out of the shower, and her hair was wrapped in a towel.
She didn’t wear anything, standing in front of her wardrobe and picking out clothes.
The moment Chase came in, she hastily grabbed a scarf from the closet to cover herself. Then she kicked at Chase. “Chase, damn it, ever heard of knocking?”
Chase dodged backward, with a mischievous smile on his face. “Sorry, I heard Clara was in trouble and didn’t think much of it.”
Sasha was initially angry, but her mood shifted upon hearing about Clara. She snatched the phone from Chase’s hand. She asked, “Ian, what happened to Clara?”
