Recalling these memories, Ian felt a surge of warmth in his chest. He and Clara were childhood sweethearts, and even though they had been separated, fate’s gears had turned and brought them back together.
He had become her husband, as promised. They even had a child.
Ian’s kisses deepened as the floodgates of memory opened. Suddenly, Edwin’s voice came from outside the door, making him slowly let go of Clara.
He gently caressed the slightly reddened corners of Clara’s eyes and whispered in a husky voice, “I’ll make love to you properly when we get home tonight.” His words made Clara’s already flushed cheeks burn even hotter.
Just then, Edwin walked in, and he couldn’t help but give Ian a stern look. “She’s pregnant. Can’t you restrain yourself a bit?”
Ian, wrapping his arm around Clara’s shoulder, walked out while saying, “A little intimacy between couples is supposed to be good for the baby’s emotional intelligence. You wouldn’t understand, forever single.”
Edwin, annoyed, kicked at him. “Scram! No dinner for you tonight.”
The three of them laughed and joked as they went downstairs.
At that moment, Teo called. “Ian, you guessed it right. Not only does Brodie disagree with Katherine moving into the old mansion, but her brother is also against it.”
Ian’s eyes darkened. “What brother? Katherine has other relatives?”
“Bruce’s adopted son, who is disabled and has always treated Brodie as his own son. This guy was also my college mate and a rival in love.”
