Ian's car sped toward home.
It was then that he received a call from Anders. "Ian, the baby's heart has stopped beating. Elle needs to undergo surgery immediately. Can you get in touch with a pediatric specialist for me?"
"Sure, right away."
He had just finished calling the pediatric specialist when, in an instant, he heard a deafening sound.
His heart skipped a beat in shock.
He immediately looked toward the direction of the sound. In an instant, white smoke billowed into the air, coming from the villa's location.
At this moment, Ian didn't know how to describe his feelings – shock, fear, disbelief. It was as if his throat was blocked with cotton. He wanted to speak but was unable to utter a single word.
Dawson also realized the danger. He immediately said, "Mr. Hayes, there seems to have been an explosion, and it looks like it's at the villa."
Their car was still several miles away from the villa. Getting there immediately was simply impossible.
Ian's hands were ice cold and trembled non-stop. His phone slipped from his hands several times.
It wasn't until the third time that he managed to steady his emotions and called Clara, but the phone rang for a long time without an answer.
He then called Casey, but still, no one answered. The calls to the two bodyguards went unanswered as well.
It was only at this moment that Ian truly realized that danger had indeed struck. The accident had happened at home. Clara might have already been a casualty.
Ian thought back to the dream he had on the plane, and his whole body shivered.
He immediately called Teo, his voice seemingly devoid of strength. "Dad, something seems to have happened to Clara. Please go check on her. I'll be there as soon as I can."
