Not Again Mr Whitney novel Chapter 20

In the morning, Calvin got up and found that Rita had left the house.

Seemed like she had given up.

Calvin grabbed two pieces of cold bread from the kitchen and ate them all. When he was about to go out, Carrie yelled as she was walking downstairs.

“Where do think you’re going? Have you cleaned up the kitchen?”

Calvin paused, “Mother, I told you I need to work on that project.”

“The Houston family would be broke if we count on you. When you’re still sleeping, Vincent had already picked up Rita and gone to Chelston Healthcare.”

“What? He’s there?”

Carrie raised her eyebrows, “You’ve got a problem with that? Vincent’s company had previous dealings with Chelston Healthcare. He knew Paul Bradford before. I really should’ve picked Vincent as my son-in-law...”

Calvin clutched his fists. Everyone could see what Vincent was up to.

Thinking about the way Vincent looked at Rita, Calvin couldn’t just stand here and let him do whatever he wanted.

“Mother, I need to buy some groceries. What do you want to have for lunch...”

Before Carrie could answer, Calvin had run out of the door.

By the time he arrived at Chelston Healthcare, it was about 9:30 a.m.

Maybe it was because he met with Paul here before, the receptionist didn’t stop him.

The office door was half-opened and he could hear Vincent’s voice.

“Mr. Bradford, we’re close like brothers. Do me a favor this time. You can ask around how great The Houston's Clinic is.”

Paul said, “Vincent, since we’re bros, I’ll cut to the chase. See, these are all the files every clinic sent us. To be honest, they are all better than your clinic. You’re putting me in a very awkward position.”

“Mr. Bradford, they are a little better than us. But we’re not bad either. We’re closer than that, right?”

Paul sipped his tea and spat out some tea leaves.

“Vincent, if it weren’t for you, you couldn’t even make it to my office. Do you believe that?”

Rita said, “Mr. Bradford, just give us a chance and we won’t let you down.”

Paul chuckled, “Miss Houston, you seem to be prettier than yesterday. What’s your daily routine? You skin looks so soft and...”

“You...”

Rita was irritated. Vincent hurriedly said, “Paul, I need to go to the man’s room. Please wait for a sec.”

“The man’s room is on the left.”

Calvin hastily hid in the tea room and then Vincent dragged Rita out of the office.

“Rita, don’t get mad. He’s always like that.

Just tolerate for a while. He’s got the power so we had to deal with it.”

Rita was still angry, “I knew we don’t have a big chance at this from the beginning. Let it go. I don’t wanna talk to him anymore.”

“Rita, you don't know the truth, do you? Last night, auntie and Mrs. Houston all cried to me. The Houston's Clinic is not doing well and there are two new competitors in town. She’s under a lot of pressure. We should try our best to help them. What do you say? Rest assured, he is only trying to take some advantages. If you’re not okay with this, just go and have a cup of coffee. I’ll take this from here.”

Seeing that Vincent was being quite sincere, she nodded, “Ok, well, thank you so much.”

Vincent’s body trembled with excitement, “Rita, as long as you appreciate me, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. I...”

Noticing Vincent was leaning forward, Rita took a step back and said, “I’m going to get you a cup of coffee.”

“Okay, fine.”

“Shit, then get out of my office! I don’t time for this crap.”

Vincent slowly stood up, which made Calvin think of him differently. He thought Vincent wasn’t that bad.

Vincent looked at Paul and hesitated. Then he wrote a check and said, “Mr. Bradford, this is one hundred thousand dollars.”

“You think I’ll be impressed by merely one hundred thousand? It’s not even enough for two rounds when I gamble. Piss off.”

“Mr. Bradford, don’t get mad. Wait before I finish. I mean, can you also let me...”

Paul was stunned for a while. Soon, he started sneering, “You bastard. You just said you don’t like her that way. Keep faking it.”

“Not anymore. There’s no need to hind in front of you, right? I’ve actually wanted sleep with her for a long time. Every time I see her, I just wanna hold her down and...”

“Okay, just do what I say. Nick, tell the receptionist that I won’t be seeing anyone today.”

Calvin hid in the tea room and watched Vincent leave excitedly.

In the office, Paul took a mirror from his drawer and brushed his bald head.

His secretary Nick asked, “Mr. Bradford, why did you say yes to Vincent? You just took two hundred thousand from Mr. Jones.”

“So what? They brought the money to me. Was I supposed to turn that down?”

“But what about Mr. Jones?”

Paul rolled his eyes and stared at him, “You’ve worked for me for a long time. Why you never learn? Of course we can’t mess with Mr. Jones. But this dumbass gave me one hundred thousand for nothing. If I don’t take it, I’m stupid as he is. You, get a copy of contract and use the fake stamp...”

Nick sighed, “Mr. Bradford, this is brilliant! Should I put the camera I just bought in here? We can film what you do to that girl so you can save it and watch it whenever you want. Once they come to you and ask for an explanation, just show the film to them. Then they won’t dare to say anything about this.”

Paul struck the table and said, “Kid, you learn pretty fast. You’ll gonna have a bright future. Okay, we’ll do what you said.”

The two of them burst out laughing and didn’t know someone was watching them with hatred.
