30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 306

When Isaac called out "Daddy," it hit Jason right in the feels. Without missing a beat, he scooped Isaac up into his arms.

Once nestled in Jason’s embrace, Isaac's tears flowed freely, his lower lip quivering with hurt. Realizing his chin ached a bit, he tried to pout but ended up making an adorable 'O' shape with his mouth, unsure what to do.

Seeing Isaac, bloodied and bruised, initially broke Estrella's heart. But watching him snuggle up to Jason for comfort brought a bittersweet smile to her face.

She teased, "You better hope that chin scar doesn’t scare off the ladies."

Autumn quickly chimed in, "Oh, that's nonsense. Isaac’s too young for scars. Besides, Jason’s got scars, and you didn’t mind. Look at you two, back together."

Estrella rolled her eyes. "Mom, let's not dredge up old stuff. We’re talking about Isaac here."

Jason loved hearing that. He gently patted Isaac's back, comforting him. "Isaac, it’s okay to cry if you’re hurt."

Feeling the love, Isaac wrapped his arms around Jason’s neck, finding solace in his father's embrace. He adjusted himself to avoid pressing his bandaged chin against Jason's shoulder.

Isaac's dependency on Jason didn’t go unnoticed by Cole, who stood silently by. Despite his deep love for Isaac and having summoned a host of doctors and nurses, he knew he could never replace the boy’s need for his father.

Autumn, guilt-ridden, apologized to Jason. "I’m so sorry, Jason. It was my fault for not looking after Isaac properly. He got hurt on my watch."

Earlier that evening, in a fleeting moment, Isaac had collided with a chair, resulting in his injuries. When Estrella arrived at the scene, she found him covered in blood, which left her legs weak from shock. Autumn was paralyzed with fear, her face drained of color.

Her apology to Jason was as though Isaac was his own son, blaming herself for not caring for him better.

Jason, holding Isaac and gently stroking his back, reassured her, "Kids will have their bumps and bruises, Mom. Don’t be too hard on yourself."

Despite his heartache, he couldn’t find it in himself to blame Autumn.

Across from him, Estrella watched, touched by Jason’s tenderness toward Isaac.

When the family eventually got a moment to themselves, Cole was discussing with the doctors when Estrella gently touched Jason’s face, seeking reassurance.

With a comforting grip, Jason reassured her, "Don’t worry, I’m here."

The moment was interrupted as Kristin, Landon, and Keith hurried in. Keith, despite being in his eighties and using a cane, moved briskly, showing his deep concern for Isaac, now considered part of the Nelson family.

Seeing the family gathered, Estrella withdrew her hand, feeling a bit more relaxed.

Jason, cradling Isaac and holding Estrella’s hand, turned to face Keith and the others, updating them on Isaac’s condition.

Kristin, seeing Isaac’s tearful and hurt expression, offered a grandmother’s comfort, but Isaac insisted on staying in his dad’s arms.

Not long after, the duo gave Isaac a quick wipe down and slipped him into a fresh set of pajamas before tucking him into the king-sized bed.

To his left was Jason and to his right, Estrella. Isaac felt a warm fuzziness inside, especially with the special treat of sleeping in the big bed tonight. With that thought, he chuckled himself into sleep.

Before drifting off, he mused, getting a bit roughed up wasn’t entirely bad after all!

Once Isaac had fallen asleep, Estrella looked up at Jason and said, "Thanks for sticking it out until this late."

For the past few days, Cole had been staying home, which meant Estrella and Isaac were more grounded than usual, opting to stay put instead of spending nights at Jason’s.

But just a day after parting ways with Jason, Isaac ended up getting hurt.

With a hint of weariness and politeness, Estrella thanked him. Jason gently caressed her face, signaling that no thanks were needed among family.

Estrella then turned off the main light, dimming the room to a cozy glow that brought a more intimate atmosphere.

As Estrella lay on her side, ready to close her eyes for the night, Jason, stroking her face, asked, "Estrella, when your parents came to the hospital today, did you have something you wanted to tell me?"

In that moment earlier, as she touched his face, looking deeply into his eyes, he could tell there was something on her mind.
