Chapter 902
Third Person’s POV
Valerie’s eyes turned red with worry.
“But nobody can say with absolute certainty that Paisley is even in that convoy,” she rattled off. Every second lost was a second Germain gained. Adelaide forced herself to think—fast.
Her horse was a champion thoroughbred, fleet as the wind, and she knew she could catch up to Germain’s convoy.
As long as Paisley hadn’t been taken too far from New York’s outer limits, she wouldn’t be in immediate danger. What truly terrified Adelaide was the thought of Germain spiriting I out of the city entirely.
She turned to Tessa and ordered sharply, “Ride back. Find Ellen. Have him lead the Capital Guard to search every building in the city!

“After that, go to the Blackthorn Pack and find Avery. I want a squad of his toughest fighters on the road after me. I’ll leave clear markers along the way!”
She didn’t wait for a reply. The whip cracked against her horse’s flank, and she was gone in a blur of dust and hooves.
She trusted Wendy’s tracking skills, honed over years of experience. If Paisley could vanish under her watch, it meant the kidnappers had planned every step.
Adelaide couldn’t afford to underestimate her enemy-she had to cut Germain off before he slipped beyond reach.
Tessa spun her horse around and galloped back toward the city.
By now, New York was already in chaos. The Capital Guard and the Royal Patrol were scouring every district.
Ampelio had also mobilized his forces, and even Alfred, Deputy Commander of the Royal Sentry, had broken protocol to deploy his elite units for a discreet sweep.
Paisley was a mentor Alfred had fought tooth and nail to secure, and her sudden disappearance had him sick with worry.
But none of them had the authority to lock down the entire city, so Tessa rode straight to the

“She went after them all by herself?” he asked.
“Yes. Gamma Adelaide was frantic-she rode out the moment she knew!” Tessa said urgently.
“Alpha Lance, the most important thing right now is to seal off every major exit out of New York! What if Paisley hasn’t been taken out of the city but is instead hidden somewhere? The kidnappers are very likely to smuggle her out while we’re all distracted with the search!”
Lance’s
gaze turned cold and sharp as he thought of Adelaide, who was walking straight into danger, facing Germain’s entire pack on her own.
He moved swiftly. Under the pretense of hunting down a high-risk fugitive, he signed the order to seal all city gates-though not entirely. Every werewolf leaving or entering New York, noble or commoner, would now face strict Ministry inspection.
To complete the net, he stationed guards at every mountain trail that could serve as a backdoor out of the city.
Then he dispatched Dennis with formal Ministry authorization to conduct a citywide sweep.
The convoy was one thing-but Lance’s real fear was that Germain might have hired mercenaries to sneak Paisley out through the back roads.
Even while Adelaide was chasing down the Blue Abyss Pack’s convoy, those well-trained mercenaries might be moving Paisley through the mountain trails.
Cliffs and steep peaks that were treacherous for ordinary werewolves were nothing to them.
The mountain roads around New York were not difficult to traverse. Though a few key passes had sentries posted, Lance knew better than anyone how half-heartedly they usually performed their patrols.
Orders were issued one after another.
The Ministry of Justice would coordinate with the Royal Patrol on the city search. The Capital Guard would lock down every pass.
Meanwhile, Lance sent word to Avery and Craig. Within the hour, the three of them were in

the saddle, leading the Blackthorn Pack’s most hardened warriors toward Adelaide’s positic Riding at a breakneck pace, Lance filled them in on everything that had happened.
Avery already had a rough idea of the situation. Craig listened in stony silence, his face livi with anger.
Now, they were fearing for Adelaide as well as Paisley.
In New York, watched constantly by Lycan Erasmus’s eyes, Germain had no choice but to ke up a docile front.
But once he was outside the city walls, he could shed that mask at any moment and become the ruthless predator he truly was.
