Jared went on, "The Demon Dragon Lineage won't spare you just because you hide. They and the orthodox dragon bloodline are enemies to the death. That hatred runs through generations. The moment they find your trail, they'll strike, and they won't stop until every last one of you is dead."
"And the Celestial Palace won't forget you just because you keep your heads down. They've always wanted control over the entire Fourteenth Firmament. They want every possible threat erased.
And your Sky Dragon Clan is one of the biggest threats in their eyes. Once they find your whereabouts, they'll definitely send forces to wipe you out. When that day comes, even if you stay hidden in Sky Dragon Valley, you still won't escape death."
He rose to his feet and stood with his hands behind his back, looking past the hall and out toward the mountains beyond. "The longer you hide, the more reckless they become, and the more they do whatever they want. Instead of clinging to life in here, trembling through every day, why not step out and live openly?"
"Use the strength of your Sky Dragon Clan to defend your dignity and protect your people. Make the Fourteenth Firmament remember the majesty of the dragon race again. Make everyone who dares bully the Draconians pay a brutal price!"
Roland's whole body jolted. Too much moved across his face at once—something stirred by Jared's words, something held back by caution, the weight of indecision, and beneath all of it, something buried deep that had never truly gone away.
What stirred in him was simple. Jared had spoken straight into the place Roland had kept shut away for years.
All those years, Roland had wanted one thing—to lead the Sky Dragon Lineage out of Sky Dragon Valley and let them live openly beneath heaven and earth.
What held him back was just as clear. The Draconians had already been badly weakened. If they showed themselves rashly, the Demon Dragon and the Celestial Palace might descend on them at once and bring total destruction to the Sky Dragon Lineage.
And what kept him suspended there was this—he did not know whether Jared could truly lead them through this crisis and bring them back up again.
As for that last thing buried at the bottom of him, it had always been there. A hunger for freedom. A hunger for dignity. A hunger to see the Draconians stand in glory again.
"Your Majesty... you mean you want our Sky Dragon Lineage to walk out of Sky Dragon Valley, stop hiding, and show ourselves openly?"
Roland's voice shook when he asked it. His eyes stayed locked on Jared, full of hope he hardly dared hold onto and a doubt he still couldn't put down.
Jared turned back to him and looked straight at him. Then he said, slow and clear, "That's right. Take your people and go to Cloudhaven City. From this day on, you don't need to hide anymore. You don't need to fear the Demon Dragons, and you don't need to fear the Celestial Palace either."
"I'm the one backing you. As long as I'm here, nobody will dare lay a finger on you."
Roland froze.
He looked at Jared, at this Dragon Emperor who was so young it almost didn't seem real, and something hard to put into words surged up inside him.
The Sky Dragon Lineage had always stayed hidden in the dark, moving with care every step of the way, like they could fall through the ice at any moment.
No one had ever dared step forward to protect them. No one had ever dared tell them they could stop hiding.
But now this young Dragon Emperor was standing in front of them and saying it in a voice that didn't leave room for doubt.
They didn't need to hide anymore.
He would back them.
He would protect them.
At that moment, every trace of worry and hesitation burned away under Jared's steady gaze.
Roland knew this was the Sky Dragon Lineage's only chance. Their only chance to break free of a life in hiding and rise again.
If they let this chance slip past them, then the Sky Dragon Lineage would likely spend the rest of its days trapped in Sky Dragon Valley, clinging to life until the end finally came.
Roland drew in a deep breath and forced down the surge in his chest. Then his knees bent, and he bowed again. When he spoke, his voice was respectful and firm, with a rough catch in it. "Your Majesty, this subordinate is willing to follow Your Majesty through fire and water without hesitation. From this day on, the Sky Dragon Lineage will follow Your Majesty's lead in all things. If Your Majesty tells us to go east, we will never go west. If Your Majesty tells us to kill, we will not show mercy."
The few Draconian Elders behind him stepped forward one after another and bowed as well. "We are willing to follow Your Majesty through fire and water without hesitation!"
