Morgan personally escorted them to the door when the group left Grand Trove Pavilion.
As Jared walked away, Morgan looked after him a few extra seconds before lowering his voice to the attendant beside him.
"Remember that man. Golden Immortal Level One, green robe, and a white-dressed woman who cultivates ice arts beside him. If he comes again, bring him straight to me."
"Understood," the attendant said with a nod.
Once they left the pavilion, Jared took the crystals out of his Storage Ring and handed them to Rowan.
He had already said those demon hound materials belonged to Rowan and the others.
He would not take them back.
Rowan accepted the crystals, his face full of gratitude and shock.
The other nine cultivators stared so hard that their mouths almost dropped open.
Two hundred forty thousand.
That was nearly double what they had expected.
And Jared had earned it simply by naming a price, then calmly negotiating one round after another.
From beginning to end, his voice had never even risen.
"Mr. Chance, you... you are amazing."
Rowan's eyes shone with admiration, and his voice had gone slightly strange from excitement. "I never knew how to bargain. If I could get twenty or thirty thousand more, I already thought I had done well. I never imagined you could raise the price this much."
Jared waved a hand. "Market prices are not secret. Learn a little more before selling, and people will have a harder time cheating you."
He said it plainly.
Yet the truth of it was hard to deny.
Rowan nodded over and over. His respect for Jared deepened even further.
He quietly decided that before he sold materials again, he would spend a few days in the city and learn the going rates for every item.
"Jared, how did you know the price of those demon beast materials?" Gwendolyn asked. "We only just arrived in the Nineteenth Firmament."
Jared smiled faintly. "When we entered the city, all of you were looking around. I used spirit sense and overheard two people negotiating a demon hound deal. That was enough."
Afterward, Jared led the group around Bermu City for a while longer, learning the city's power structure and how it functioned day to day.
Rowan explained as they walked.
The City Lord of Bermu City was Bennett Whitmoor, a Golden Immortal Level Seven cultivator and the strongest person in the city.
Besides Grand Trove Pavilion, the city also had a branch of the Abyssal Exchange, an intelligence station from Skyseer Pavilion, the mercenary hall run by Stormwatch Hall, and many other forces, both large and small.
Golden Immortal cultivators were common here.
Golden Immortal Level Four and Level Five experts passed along the street from time to time. Occasionally, a Golden Immortal Level Six powerhouse walked down the main road with an easy stride, and everyone nearby would naturally step aside.
"Where is the Abyssal Exchange?" Jared asked.
Rowan pointed toward the city center. "Over there. The tallest silver-white tower. But the Abyssal Exchange only opens its doors to members. Ordinary cultivators cannot even get inside.
"If you want information, Mr. Chance, the intelligence market in the west district is easier. Like I said, you can buy almost any news there. It is not cheap, but the reliability is decent."
Jared nodded and memorized the direction of the Abyssal Exchange.
They were walking along the central avenue, planning to buy several recent intelligence reports, when a burst of noise rose ahead.
It was louder than the usual street bustle and carried the sharp excitement of fresh news.
Near the city gate, a crowd had packed itself around a notice board. Heads pressed together. People at the edge stood on tiptoe and craned their necks to look. Those who managed to squeeze out wore excited expressions.
