Chapter 128
As Joseph thought back to Cora saying she wouldn’t divorce him, he knitted his brows. With her status and power, if she insisted on staying in the marriage, and knowing her nature, she’d stop at nothing to get her way.
And him? He was just a deputy director of the ICU. How could he possibly stand a chance against the richest woman in Jenton?
“Cora, you’re seriously forcing me to do things I don’t want to do!”
Joseph wasn’t about to just sit around and do nothing. He was ready to strike back in his own way.
Seeing that his doctoral dissertation would be completed in just a few days, he made an appointment with the leadership of the university to discuss his dissertation defense.
After that, noticing it was getting late, he went to the gym in the basement to work out.
When he got to the bathroom in the master bedroom, Joseph found Cora soaking in the tub. He didn’t bother to be modest as he turned on the shower to rinse off.
A moment later, Cora got out of the tub to join him in the shower. As she leaned in close to Joseph, he naturally pulled her into his arms. The next moment, they were kissing. They quickly got caught up in the heat of the moment.
A long while later, Joseph chugged a bottle of mineral water, finally feeling hydrated again.
“I have a question. When Bill came after me that day, how did you manage to dig up dirt on him so quickly? And why would that woman from the nightclub have kept evidence against him?”
Joseph watched Cora apply moisturizer. Even with her natural beauty, time would eventually catch up with everyone, so she still had to maintain her skin.
But the thought that her youth had belonged to other men, whether it was in the past, present, or possibly the future, stung Joseph deep down.
Cora did not want to answer his question, so she pretended she hadn’t heard and kept applying her moisturizer.
