Chapter 196
Natalie watched Joseph and Cora go into their room. And before long, inappropriate sounds could be heard coming from inside, which made her face darken.
She raised her hand, wanting to bang on the door to make them stop. Alas, she had no right to do that. On her way back upstairs, she found Selena waiting for her.
“What are you doing? It’s late, so why aren’t you sleeping? And why are you sneaking around silently like a mouse?” Natalie asked.
She didn’t really like this younger sister of hers. Selena was simply exceptional. Even though Selena was following in Natalie’s footsteps, she was already doing better than Natalie had at that age.
That meant Selena would definitely surpass Natalie in the future as well.
“Mom and Dad are sleeping. What are you trying to do? Remember the time you ruined an intimate moment between them a few years ago and got punished by Mom? Have you already forgotten that lesson?”
Natalie shuddered. “Mind your own business!”
That happened about three or five years ago. Back then, Joseph and Cora were watching a movie in the home theater, with Cora sitting on Joseph’s lap.
As Natalie was young and clueless back then, she didn’t realize they were secretly doing the deed. Seeing how quiet they were being, she went over to give them a scare.
As a result, the startled Cora clamped down tight, ending everything painfully and abruptly. It had been extremely awkward back then.
Natalie ended up being punished afterward. When she realized Joseph wasn’t going to speak up for her, she started treating him with less respect and even began to resent him.
Selena followed Natalie into her room and asked, “Since you knew before me that Dad wasn’t our biological father, did you manage to track down our real father yet?”
“Selena, get your facts straight! Joseph might not be our bio dad, but that doesn’t mean you and I share the same father. We might be half-sisters.”
Selena acknowledged that possibility. “Cora has no shame! She’s seriously capable of anything! But even if we have different dads, have you already found yours?”
“This is adult business. You’re just a kid-what are you getting involved for? Get out of my room and go to bed.”
Natalie hadn’t found her biological father, nor had she made any real progress. That completely derailed her plan to get away from Joseph and Cora as quickly as possible, leaving her in a foul mood. She told Selena to leave and even shoved her toward the door.
