When Joseph got back to the hospital, he found Bernard sitting in his office. The moment they locked eyes, the animosity was mutual.

Joseph asked, “What are you doing here? Has Warren admitted to it?”

“Cora says she has nothing to do with Warren, so you should stop hurting their reputation! If you have proof, show it!”

Glaring at Joseph, Bernard held out a hand, demanding proof.

“Have you gone senile or something? You’ve seen the DNA test results for Natalie and Selena. They are not my children. They’re bastard children Cora had with random men.

“If they’re not Warren’s, then they’re some other guy’s children. Either way, they aren’t mine. If you don’t even believe hard evidence like that, what other proof do you want?”

Since Joseph had already forced his way into Lowell Group and fought Bernard’s bodyguards, he had thrown caution to the wind. He no longer felt the need to show Bernard any respect.

“I acknowledge that piece of evidence. If Cora wasn’t in denial, I would’ve agreed to your divorce a long time ago. Do you think I’d keep you around otherwise?

“But we’re talking about Warren right now. So, do you have proof or not?”

Bernard was pissed as well. He couldn’t believe Joseph had just called him senile to his face.

“I don’t have solid proof. If I could catch them in the act, do you think I’d still be wasting my breath with you? But Frank and Cora are close, and Frank told me that something is going on between Cora and Warren.

“And at home, Cora treats Warren’s junk like prized possessions. That’s not normal. Fuck, I should’ve suspected her ages ago. Then I wouldn’t have been kept completely in the dark for over a decade.”

Joseph took a drag of his cigarette, his hands trembling. Every time he thought about Cora betraying him for over ten years, playing him for a fool the whole time, he felt so humiliated that he wanted to crawl into a hole. He was utterly devastated.

“Frank? He told you that?”

Bernard was surprised, and his initially skeptical look gave way to a softer gaze. Frank was close to Cora and worked closely with her. If she had a man on the side, it made sense that Frank would know about it.
