Chapter 246

“Honey, you’ve really misunderstood me. I never did any of those things…” Cora defended herself.
Joseph snapped, “Cora, is that the only thing you know how to say? Every time I hear it, it makes me sick.”
He was irritated. He genuinely couldn’t understand the point of her denying everything. If she already had another man, why not just divorce him and live with that man? Wouldn’t it be better?
“One day, you’ll realize that you’ve been wrong about me all along,” stated Cora.
Instead of continuing the argument, she just focused on driving.
Silence settled over the car. Then, Cora turned on some music to ease the awkwardness. Fortunately, traffic was light, and they arrived home before long.
Kimberly remained innocent. Once she saw Joseph, she ran up to him happily, chattering nonstop. Selena was also visibly happy. On the other hand, Natalie remained quiet, acting as though she didn’t see him.
Ever since New World Group had been burned down, tensions throughout Jenton had risen. Many people no longer felt safe, including Bernard and Helen. So, Bernard and Helen had moved into Cora’s place.
After all, people from the Croma faction wouldn’t dare to target Cora directly. If they did, she would kill them all.
In reality, every member of the Croma faction currently operating in Jenton was already under surveillance. Any unusual move would trigger an immediate response, ranging from expulsion to elimination.
Joseph didn’t make a scene. He just treated it as if he were having dinner at someone else’s house and joined everyone at the table.
After dinner, instead of helping the children with their studies or spending time playing with them as he once had, he went to the study and talked to Bernard.
Bernard no longer looked down on Joseph. He wasn’t arrogant anymore. This was partly because Cora had instructed him to stop bullying Joseph and instead persuade Joseph to return to the family.
More importantly, Joseph wasn’t weak. His medical skills were extraordinary. Besides, he had managed to disappear from Jenton without leaving a trace recently, evading everyone who tried to find him.
For years, Bernard had underestimated Joseph.
Ever since returning from the monastery, Joseph was less prone to anger. He was calmer now. He asked without beating around the bush, “Is there something suspicious about Warren’s death?”
So, it was about this matter. Bernard pondered for a moment before answering, “We don’t know who did it, but one thing is certain-Warren didn’t die naturally. Joseph, now that he’s dead, can’t you let the past go?”
“The dead don’t automatically deserve forgiveness. Especially when they never paid for what they did. If someone spends their life doing evil and all their sins disappear the moment they die, death is far too easy. Warren is dead, but the damage he caused is still here. If anything, he got off easy,” stated Joseph.
In Joseph’s mind, Warren had received some measure of punishment, but what about Cora?
“This matter is really hard to move on from,” responded Bernard.
Bernard was deeply embarrassed by the incident where Cora and Warren shared a milk bath. Warren was seriously ugly. He wasn’t worthy of her.

“Now that New World Group has been burned down, and the situation is chaotic, I can’t help the Lowell family. So, is there a possibility that Cora will divorce me and find the biological father of her children? This way, he can come out and handle this mess,” said Joseph.
“Do you know who the man is?” Bernard asked.
