Joseph didn’t know why he had confessed the arson to Grace. He wasn’t even completely certain that she wouldn’t betray him. After all, it was her own choice.

Besides, he and Cora had loved each other for more than a decade. Yet, she had hidden the truth from him all this time and betrayed him repeatedly.

So, how could he possibly place absolute trust in Grace, whom he had met by chance and shared only an unexpected relationship with?

Joseph didn’t regret telling Grace. If she chose to betray him and report it to the Croma faction, he would accept whatever consequences followed.

He didn’t tell her to drag her into the mess. He just felt that if she truly considered herself his woman and had repeatedly said she wanted to be with him, she deserved to know what kind of man he really was.

If she could still remain loyal after this, she would be someone worth cherishing. One bad experience was all it took.

When Joseph arrived at the hospital, he pushed those thoughts aside and focused on treating his patients. Before noon, Dave came over and drove Joseph back to the luxury villa.

The moment Joseph saw the petite woman, Samantha Townsend, he had no desire to go inside. Standing in the courtyard, he complained, “Why is she fooling around again? Can’t she find a normal man? Why does she insist on messing around with that?”

“No, nothing like yesterday happened this time. She didn’t do that again. She’s just feeling unwell and needs you to check up on her,” said Samantha.

She added, “Besides, you were the one who treated her yesterday, so you’re the most suitable doctor. Don’t worry. The payment will be generous.”

“If it weren’t for Mr. Henderson, I wouldn’t take this kind of case,” replied Joseph.

He entered the villa and went upstairs. Upon entering the room, he saw the woman, Belinda Towne, from yesterday. She was still beautiful. Although she was already 35 years old, based on the medical reports, her youthful face made her look much younger.

Her figure was just as stunning as before, but remembering what he had seen yesterday, he found himself unable to appreciate her beauty. Instead, he only felt disgust.

He thought about how she was a beautiful woman who had nonetheless been reduced to this, reflecting that life truly wasn’t fair. Still, he felt no sympathy. After all, this was her choice and life. It was also her freedom.

Professionally, Joseph asked questions and performed a checkup. The diagnosis was an infection, but it wasn’t

serious.

In the afternoon, one of the hospital’s patients suddenly took a turn for the worse. His heart had stopped beating.

After examining him, Joseph saw that multiple organs had deteriorated beyond recovery. There was nothing more he could do since the patient’s family had already accepted the inevitable.

He chose not to expend extraordinary effort trying to prolong the patient’s life. Otherwise, he could have bought

Yvonne worked as one of Cora’s client hostesses. The men she entertained must be important to Cora. Anyone capable of beating someone this badly and doing it repeatedly must hold considerable power. Otherwise, Cora wouldn’t keep tolerating it.

Nonetheless, Joseph didn’t care who the man was. The more powerful the man was, the more Joseph wanted to learn who he was.
