Chapter 250
After Joseph got off work that evening, he debated whether he should go to Cora or Rosalie. Suddenly, he realized that he was becoming too attached. So, he chose neither. Once he left the hospital, he went to Lacey’s apartment.
“What are you doing here?” Lacey hadn’t expected Joseph to come. In fact, he stepped inside directly.
Remembering that someone else was in the apartment, Lacey quickly said, “Go back outside first. I…
However, it was too late. A naked woman walked out of the bathroom. The moment she saw Joseph, she jumped in shock. Without saying a word, she spun around and ran back into the bathroom.
Joseph frowned. “Does she know who I am?”
“No. She’s my cousin from my hometown. She came to visit me,” replied Lacey.
“I see. I won’t disturb you two then,” said Joseph.
Then, he turned and headed for the door. He dropped some cash onto the table and made a zipper-across-the- mouth gesture, signaling that everything she had seen should remain confidential.
Lacey asked, “Where are you going? Why don’t you stay? It’ll just be a little crowded.”
She had thought about it. She would have her cousin sleep on the couch while she and Joseph shared the bedroom. Maybe they could do the deed at night. To be honest, she wanted to sleep with him. 1
Joseph ignored her suggestion and left. He went to find Grace. The latter was already dressed in her pajamas. Upon seeing him, she let him in. Once the door was shut, she pinned him against the wall and kissed him.
He was caught off guard. For a moment, he just stood there. Then, he decided to follow his desires. That night, he was going to be the villain. Whether it was because he was interested in her or because he had finally given in to temptation, he no longer cared.
In the morning, Grace watched Joseph, who was having breakfast, and smiled in satisfaction. For the first time in her life, she discovered that watching a man have breakfast could make her happy.
Of course, what made her even happier was what happened last night. She had been completely swept away by him once again.
Suddenly, she said, “I’m going to challenge Cora later. Either she dies, or I do. A man like you isn’t someone either of us is willing to give up.”
Joseph frowned. He looked at Grace and asked indifferently, “Am I really a good man? I’m not. Grace, if you knew I was the one who set fire to New World Group, would you still say that?”
Stunned, Grace uttered, “What did you say?”
After confirming that she had heard correctly, she immediately pulled out a specialized device and swept the room for surveillance equipment. It was only then that she relaxed.
She questioned, “Why did you tell me this? Now that I know about it, I’m worried about you. You offended both sides at once. Have you lost your mind?”
Joseph laughed. “It isn’t that big of a deal. Nobody died. Why are you so worried? I’m the mastermind behind it, and I’m not worried. So, why are you? Even if you told Mavis, she wouldn’t blame either of us.”
“Does your wife know?” Grace asked.

The warmth and satisfaction she had felt moments ago vanished. Reality came crashing back. Joseph’s reckless actions forced her to make a choice. If she chose him, there would be no turning back. She could never return to her old life. Worse, both of them could end up in serious danger.
“If she knew, do you think I would still be sitting here with you?” Joseph questioned.
