If the two security guards had been burned in the fire, they probably wouldn’t have been sent to Jenton University Hospital. They would have gone straight to a specialized burn center.

After having breakfast and a meeting, Joseph went over to see Yvonne. He dismissed the caretakers first.

Yvonne had regained consciousness, but the damage to her spine was severe. She was still confined to bed and still needed an oxygen mask to help her breathe.

Joseph stated, “Your condition is very serious. You’ve been abused repeatedly. Your body is already covered with old injuries. Your fractures were broken again and again. No matter how advanced modern medicine is, it can’t restore you to 100 percent.

“As for your spine, your recovery is going to be painfully slow. There’s a chance that you’ll spend the rest of your life lying in bed. You need to prepare yourself for the worst.”

The moment Yvonne heard those words, her emotions spiraled. Her blood pressure and the others climbed. Tears also streamed down her face.

Joseph added, “Kyle has already been arrested. He isn’t anyone to you. It’s unbelievable that he abused you so brutally. You’re also foolish. Why did you keep walking back into that nightmare? Whether you consented or not doesn’t matter in the eyes of the law. Kyle will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

Yvonne stopped crying. She stared at Joseph, displeasure and anger filling her eyes. She thought that he was meddling in something that wasn’t his business.

However, she couldn’t speak. Of course, he had no intention of letting her. As long as she remained silent, she couldn’t defend Kyle or make excuses for him.

“Are you one of Cora’s clients? Why aren’t you asking her for help instead of me?” Joseph questioned.

“Only you can do this,” answered Logan.
