Not long after, Joseph received a call from the specialized burn center. They wanted to transfer another critically burned patient to Jenton University Hospital.

Instead of agreeing immediately, he had them explain the patient’s condition and send over all the medical data. After reviewing it, he didn’t hold back.

He said, “You’re from the specialized burn center. You have the best specialists and equipment. Treating patients with severe burns is your job. Now, you’re trying to dump the patient on Jenton University Hospital? Do you think we’re some miracle hospital that can handle everything?”

Of course, Joseph rejected the transfer. It wasn’t out of pride. The burn treatment resources at Jenton University Hospital weren’t as good as those at the specialized burn center. Sending such a critically injured patient there would have been irresponsible.

Finding another opportunity, Joseph went to find Frank and asked, “About Yvonne and Kyle, is there anything you can tell me?”

“Yvonne? I slept with her before, but it was strictly a business transaction. There was nothing beyond that. I’ve heard of Kyle, but I’ve never dealt with him personally. He’s a major client of Lowell Group,” answered Frank.

Joseph asked, “Do you think Cora could have slept with Kyle?”

“Probably not. Kyle is pretty bad. He has a limp and all kinds of bizarre fetishes. He’s also obsessed with those immortality drugs. I can’t imagine Cora being interested in someone like him,” replied Frank.

Joseph said, “Not necessarily. Warren was trash, too, yet Cora still soaked in a bath with him. So, why couldn’t there be something with Kyle? You have no idea how needy Cora is. I doubt Kyle will talk about anyone besides Yvonne. How can I look into his secrets? Let me know where to start.”

Frank thought for a while before writing down places where he had seen Kyle before, along with what Kyle had been doing at each location.

Outside, Paige coughed, signaling that someone was coming. Joseph told Frank that he could let his wife visit him often before ending the conversation.

Dave had come over. When Dave knew that Joseph was no longer busy, Dave led Joseph to the underground parking lot so that Joseph could check up on Belinda.

Belinda had a bacterial infection, but it had improved considerably over the past two days with proper treatment.

She came over to look for Joseph because she wanted a follow-up checkup, hoping to get a few more days’ worth of medication before leaving the city. At the same time, she wanted to thank him.

When Joseph was done with the checkup, Belinda noticed the disgust on his face and asked, displeased, “Do you think I’m cheap?”

She added, “Everyone lives differently. I was forced into my situation. Honestly, I don’t think you’re in any position to look down on me. I know all about your situation, too. You can’t escape Cora, and I can’t escape the man who’s forcing himself into my life.”

“There’s actually someone who can force you?” Joseph questioned.

Belinda responded, “If there wasn’t, why would I keep ending up with that animal instead of finding a normal man? When I’m with him, I don’t have the slightest chance to resist.”

Joseph asked, “I see. Is he that dangerous? Can he fight off ten people by himself? Is it something else?”

“He’s intelligent. He manipulates people easily. Every plan I’ve ever come up with to escape him has failed. Not only does he see through every attempt, but he also continues to torment me. You’ve probably experienced something similar with Cora,” said Belinda.

“Cora? What do you think of her?” Joseph questioned. Cora wasn’t the one pressuring him. Instead, it was her family’s wealth and power.
