Chapter 298
The next day, Joseph received two unusual patients-Kenneth and Katie. They had also been poisoned and were
unconscious.
Joseph found it a little odd, but he still went ahead and treated them. Once Kenneth came to, he asked, “Who poisoned you two?”
“I’m not sure either,” Kenneth said weakly. Not wanting to say anything more, he closed his eyes and quickly tell asleep.
But when Joseph asked Katie, he got a different answer.
She had him dismiss his other staff before saying, “Kenneth staged the whole show himself because the Zahns came to look into us. We had no choice but to protect ourselves.”
“You…” Joseph was speechless. Still, he had to admit that Kenneth’s method was indeed ruthless.
He then asked, “Weren’t you afraid you’d overdo it and accidentally kill yourselves? How did you get such a precise dosage?”
Katie replied, “An old man was poisoned earlier, wasn’t he? Kenneth was behind that. Once we knew you could neutralize the poison, we were willing to take the risk. Joseph, surely you can see how sincere we are.”
“Watch out. All your scheming could all be in vain!” Joseph said nothing more and told Katie to get some rest.
Again, he did not file a report on Kenneth and Katie’s cases. He didn’t even notify the hospital or bring it up for discussion with his department.
Later, while Joseph was organizing his documents, Fiona walked into his office, her face hidden behind a mask, her eyes filled with wariness and resentment.
Fiona got straight to the point. “Joseph, I treated you like an older brother, and this is how you repay my trust? You’re despicable!”
“Watch what you’re saying. You can’t just slander me like that! When have I ever hurt you?” Joseph denied it.
“The last time you let me smell your perfume, I got nauseous and kept throwing up. I’ve been in the hospital for three days, my blood sugar is low, and I’m completely drained. And you’re still denying you did it?”
“You’re being unreasonable!” Joseph had the guards come in to throw Fiona out of his office. He would never admit to something like that.
However, when he went to the cafeteria for lunch, Fiona caught up to him and said, “Joseph, you owe me an apology. Otherwise, I’ll sue you!”
“You want to suo me? Go right ahead. I’ll call the police and cooperate with their investigation. Since I didn’t do it, I’m sure the court will clear my name,” Joseph replied.
Fiona was a lawyer. He would be surprised if she didn’t file a lawsuit.
“Cora and five of my colleagues started vomiting at your office. All five colleagues are still in the Traditional Medicine Center. Don’t you think that’s suspicious? I could sue you for that.”
“Ask Cora if she’s going to sue me. I’m not making things hard for her, so she should know when to stop. Fiona, you’re on Cora’s side.
“I’m really upset you chose to help her cover up her affair and betray me! Don’t act all righteous in front of me. I

keep score of everything!”
Joseph took two steps forward before turning back to Fiona, asking, “Do you really trust the law? Cora cheated on me and had three daughters with other men.
